Marc Marquez continues to be linked with his former MotoGP team, Honda, despite dominating the 2025 world championship on the Ducati.

Marquez is negotiating a two-year extension with Ducati but Honda won’t give up on the idea of a dream reunion until that process has concluded.

One report claims KTM have made an offer to Marquez, but it would be a surprise if the Spaniard seriously considered that proposal.

Who should Honda sign for the 2027 MotoGP season?

Do you think it should be someone other than the riders in this list? Let us know in the comments below!

While Honda were the second-slowest team on the grid last year, they improved from 75 constructors’ points in 2024 to 247, albeit with two more races. There’s optimism that the largest and most successful operation in MotoGP can take advantage of the rule changes for 2027.

Marc Marquez won’t return to Honda out of ‘nostalgia’

Paddock-GP have heard from ‘several sources’ that Marquez hasn’t ‘ruled out’ another stint at Honda. He says he will listen to his gut when choosing which horse to back for 2027.

But there is one ‘non-negotiable’ condition – Honda must be in a position to win. Marquez will be 34 at the start of the 2027 season, but he’s nowhere near planning a retirement tour.

Indeed, the Ant of Cevera won’t return to Honda out of pure ‘nostalgia’, even though he has a deep connection to the brand after winning six world championships in their colours.

If he believes that Honda can deliver a bike good enough to compete for the title, then he may see the move as ‘logical’.

Marc Marquez is one of four MotoGP superstars on Honda’s radar

Honda are chasing a MotoGP A-lister for the 2027 season. Joan Mir won the world championship in 2020 but his reputation has faded in the years since.

Honda remain interested in Jorge Martin after their all-too-public attempt to lure him from Aprilia earlier this year. His contract will no longer be an obstacle.

Insiders think Honda could also pursue Fabio Quartararo and Pedro Acosta, dipping into their unrivalled bank account.

But it’s not just big-name riders who are on their radar. Honda have also been linked with Luigi Dall’Igna, credited as the main architect of Ducati’s recent dominance.
