Toprak Razgatlioglu is being watched by fans and his rivals as he prepares for the 2026 MotoGP season.
Expectations will be high for the three-time World Superbike champion as he finally moves over to MotoGP. But 2026 is almost certain to be a learning year as he gets accustomed to new machinery and Michelin rubber.
Can Toprak Razgatlioglu replicate his World Superbike success in MotoGP?
Razgatlioglu is already stressed about his MotoGP debut, as he knows that all eyes are on him to perform. His talent is unquestionable, but the big question is whether that can translate to results in the premier class.
An unnamed MotoGP and WSBK engineer thinks Razgatlioglu could redefine ‘modern riding’ if he can adjust to his bike and tyres. Many will expect him to fight at the front, but others are not so sure.

Massimo Rivola is doubtful that Toprak Razgatlioglu can score a podium in 2026
The Turkish rider is joining Pramac, who finished last in the standings in 2025. Razgatlioglu is not fazed by Yamaha’s form and believes they can return to the front, but 2026 is a critical year.
The Iwata outfit will introduce the V4 bike next season, with their riders conducting extensive tests during race weekends and private tests. It is unclear whether the machine can fight for wins, but Razgatlioglu has reported positive signs, unlike his colleague Fabio Quartararo.
Razgatlioglu knows he could be fighting for P15 during his rookie season as he needs time to get used to his new surroundings. Aprilia boss Massimo Rivola is not sure if a podium is ‘possible’ when asked by Moto.IT.
“That’s difficult,” he said. “He’s definitely a super talented rider and it will depend a lot on the bike, on the type of races that come up, you see the wet. But I’m not saying no, I can’t say yes, but I’m not saying no. It’s possible.
Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi was asked the same question, and he thinks Razgatlioglu could stand on the podium: “Well, Toprak is very strong, so why not? If he can adapt quickly, there’s nothing stopping him from doing it.”

What have other key figures been saying about Toprak Razgatlioglu’s chances in 2026?
Razgatlioglu’s 2026 season ultimately depends on whether Yamaha’s V4 is a competitive machine and if the 29-year-old can adapt his riding style to suit a MotoGP bike.
Razgatlioglu knows his ‘stoppie’ braking technique will not work as well in the premier class as it does in WSBK. It will be a year for him to get accustomed to the team and bike, and with progress, he could become a challenger.
Nicolo Bulega thinks Razgatlioglu will have ‘no problem’ in MotoGP, so long as Yamaha give him a fast bike. Paolo Pavesio says Razgatlioglu is not a marketing stunt, but Yamaha genuinely believe that he can be a force in MotoGP.
The WSBK star is realistic about his chances, however. Razgatlioglu wants to fight Marc Marquez by 2027, when the new regulations and Pirelli tyres come to the sport.
