Diogo Moreira arrives in MotoGP in 2026 with a lot of hype and expectation around him.

The Brazilian comes to the premier class after winning the Moto2 title, the first rider from his nation to do so. He pulled off the biggest comeback in the category’s history to beat Manu Gonzalez to the crown.

Moreira will join LCR Honda alongside Johann Zarco in 2026, signing a three-year deal with the Japanese giants. The 21-year-old joins the manufacturer at a critical moment as they look to return to the top of MotoGP.

He will need time to adjust to the RC213V, given that he rode the bike for the first time in the post-season test in Valencia. Furthermore, Zarco has warned Moreira about the 2027 regulations, as he will need to re-adjust to the 850cc bike.

Livio Suppo thinks Diogo Moreira will ‘overcome’ extra MotoGP commitments that bothered Casey Stoner

The Brazilian has a lot of expectations on his shoulders with his impressive talent. After all, Honda are already lining up Moreira for a factory seat in what could be an all-new rider line-up in 2027.

As well as needing to get used to his MotoGP machinery and Michelin tyres, Moreira will also have extra commitments to deal with, such as public relations and media duties.

Former Ducati manager Livio Suppo, who is now a consultant for Moreira’s Moto2 team Italtrans, told GPOne that three-time MotoGP champion Casey Stoner struggled with these commitments, but he does not think the Brazilian will have the same problem.

“MotoGP also means more commitments, more public relations, more media stress. You feel important, it changes your life, and it just takes a moment for you to lose your way.

“Diogo has a very South American character, he is always very calm and smiling, in that he reminds me a little bit of Marquez, and I think that will be able to help him to overcome even this kind of difficulties that to some riders, as was the case with Stoner, tend to bother them a lot.”

Diogo Moreira is seeking advice from Marc Marquez ahead of his MotoGP debut

Moreira will be under pressure in his rookie season to deliver results, especially after his predecessor, Somkiat Chantra, immensely struggled at LCR in 2025, scoring just six points. However, the Brazilian has the right support network around him.

Marc Marquez told Moreira to join Honda for the 2026 season. The seven-time MotoGP champion won six of his titles with the Japanese giants, so he is best-positioned to advise the rookie about what career path to take.
