Fermin Aldeguer has developed a good relationship with the Marquez brothers since replacing Marc Marquez as Alex Marquez’s teammate at Gresini for the 2025 season.
The 20-year-old graduated to the premier class in 2025 after securing a multi-year factory contract for Ducati. Aldeguer will spend the first two years of his Ducati deal at Gresini, after the Bologna Bullets used luring Marc Marquez to Borgo Panigale to facilitate his emergence.
Ducati viewed a two-year spell at Gresini alongside Alex Marquez as the ideal chance for the Spaniard to adapt to the premier class. Aldeguer is in line for a factory 2027 Ducati seat if he continues to develop, as Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia are out of contract next year.
Aldeguer produced an impressive Rookie of the Year season, en route to taking eighth in the riders’ standings with 214 points. Gresini even saw Aldeguer win his maiden MotoGP race in Indonesia, alongside taking three Grand Prix podiums and three Sprint rostrums this season.

Fermin Aldeguer finds ‘everything’ easy with Alex Marquez, despite his ‘good’ relationship with Marc Marquez
Having Alex Marquez on the other side of the Gresini garage was a great asset for Aldeguer in his rookie campaign. The Murcian finds “everything” easy with his compatriot, who took 467 points, three wins and 12 podiums for second place in the 2025 riders’ championship.

Aldeguer also finds Alex Marquez to be “more approachable” than Marc Marquez, despite also having a “good” rapport with the elder of the siblings. His relationship with Marc has matured from the natural respect that he held for the now seven-time MotoGP champion.
Aldeguer told MARCA: “I’ve always liked Marc. When I met him, I was struck by how bright his face is. He’s a bit small. I often talked about it with my assistant.
“Even though we have a good relationship, at first I had that respect you have for someone. But it’s amazing to be joking around with him, to tease him and have him laugh. That’s very impressive.
“Whereas with his brother, Alex, it’s different. He’s more approachable. You can see how kind he is. He’s like a teddy bear. Sometimes you just want to hug him, you know? Everything is very easy with him.”
Fermin Aldeguer needs Alex Marquez’s help to improve his consistency in 2026
It remains to be seen how Aldeguer’s relationship with the Marquez brothers develops next year, when the Murcian switches his GP24 for a GP25 with which Marc won the title. Ducati will give Alex Marquez a factory GP26 in 2026, as a reward for his runners-up finish in 2025.

Is Fermin Aldeguer a future MotoGP world champion?
Aldeguer will also be hoping to show Ducati why he deserves a factory seat in 2027, as he is only one of several names in the mix should Marc Marquez or Bagnaia leave Borgo Panigale. Although Aldeguer is prioritising a factory bike in 2027 over joining Ducati for the new rules.
The one area Ducati will want to see Aldeguer improve the most, and where Alex Marquez can help, is consistency. He struggled after his big result, having followed P5 in Qatar with a DNF at Jerez, P2 in Austria with P16 in Hungary and his win Indonesia with P14 in Australia.
Alex Marquez built his runners-up finish in 2025 on the consistent results that the 29-year-old managed on his Ducati GP24. The 2014 Moto3 and 2019 Moto2 champion recorded 12 podiums over the 22 rounds, including scoring five P2 finishes and a win over the first nine.
