Fermin Aldeguer sealed a dramatic maiden MotoGP win at an attritional Indonesian Grand Prix, as Marc Marquez crashed out on the opening lap of the race.
The Spaniard walked away from a collision with Marco Bezzecchi, visibly hurt, and trying to shake off a shoulder injury.
Marquez wasn’t at all at fault, as Bezzecchi carried too much speed and ran into the back of him, leaving both of them with nowhere to go. They skated off through the gravel, destroying their bikes and taking them out of Indonesian Grand Prix contention immediately.
It threw the fight for victory wide open, as Gresini’s Aldeguer found a way past KTM’s Pedro Acosta with ease, before going on to build a monumental gap. It didn’t look like anyone would find a way to challenge for victory from about lap five of the race.

At the end of lap eight, Marquez’s teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, also retired from the race after a peculiar crash at the final corner. His bike slid out from underneath him, and he just wasn’t comfortable while battling himself in last place.
Defending second position with everything he had, Acosta refused to let Luca Marini pass, who was trying to secure Honda’s best result in three years.
After waiting to make an opportunistic move, Raul Fernandez would derail Marini’s hopes with a move which sent both of them wide into the final corner. The Italian rider would rejoin eighth.
The Pramac riders started fighting, too, with Miguel Oliveira forcing his way past Jack Miller, which allowed the VR46 of Franco Morbidelli to pass the Aussie.
The first rider to truly get past Acosta would be Alex Rins, who forced his way by on lap 19 and pulled a small gap in second place.
Not long after, he began to struggle in clean air and was repassed. Acosta would hold off Alex Marquez, with teammate Brad Binder not far from the podium in fourth.
Miller’s potential top 10 finish was stripped from him in the final few laps of a race once more, as he crashed before remounting and finishing 14th.
It was confirmed after the race that Marquez had sustained a potentially fractured collarbone and ligament damage, which could signal the end of his 2025 MotoGP campaign already.
From the highs of claiming a first title just seven days ago in Japan, he now faces yet another recovery. It’s so unfortunate for a rider who has been through so much.
He will be heading back to Madrid to assess what damage has been done to his right side. He landed very heavily on his right shoulder, which explains the damage done to him.
