MotoGP fans are saying the same thing about Pedro Acosta’s Ducati links after 2027 contract talk

Pedro Acosta is set to be one of the big movers in 2027 as he is linked with a move away from KTM. Reports indicate that he has already made his decision.

The Austrian outfit are desperate to keep their star rider on board under the new regulations cycle, but Acosta has been frustrated by their lack of performance and their financial crisis. KTM have begun testing the 2027 bike, in what could be a last-ditch attempt to impress the Spaniard.

However, ‘everyone’ at KTM is ‘resigned’ to losing Acosta in 2027. Several teams have already expressed their interest in signing the 21-year-old, but one factory outfit stands out among the rest.

Ducati have been heavily linked with Acosta as Francesco Bagnaia faces pressure to keep his seat after a disappointing 2025 campaign. The KTM star would like to ride a Ducati bike and the lure of the red factory team would certainly catch his attention for 2027.

It was recently reported by journalist Manuel Pecino that Acosta has already ‘signed’ his 2027 contract. It is not known who, if at all, he has signed for, but it is common for the MotoGP rider market to start this early and riders to make decisions on their future.

Ducati seem to be the prime destination for Acosta, but many MotoGP fans do not see the Spaniard moving to the factory team, as they dismissed the rumours on Reddit.

“I find it hard to believe they would boot Pecco like that,” said one fan, while another echoed: “Err yeah sure they’re gonna boot Pecco or Marc for a dude with 0 wins.”

One user wrote: “I don’t believe they would move an outsider directly to the factory team.” while another said: “I don’t think so, hard to believe that they would want two Spanish riders in the Official Ducati Lenovo Team. Really hard. It should always have an Italian rider in it.”

“I don’t see Pecco leaving early even though he’s not happy with the bike. However, seeing new talent on a factory Ducati bike is exciting. Pedro is hungry, another year of experience to learn to save some rubber and put him on a GP27,” debated another user.

Finally, one fan offered their lengthy comment on the matter: “Nah, sorry, still doubt this. IMO, it’s still just too early for Ducati. Honda have no intention from what I’ve seen to keep either Mir or Luca.

“Meaning they know they have two vacant seats on what many are expecting to be the best bike in 27, and loads of cash to pay for a top-tier rider (which they haven’t had for a few years now). I don’t think Ducati are as sure of their future yet.

“Is Marquez staying past ’27? Will Pecco be 100% back for ’26.? If Alex repeats his ’25 campaign for 2 seasons in a row, doesn’t he deserve a chance at factory? THIS early, with a name as BIG as Acosta, if it’s true, it has to be Honda imo.”

Of course, Acosta will certainly be interested in racing for the factory Ducati team. But he does have other alternatives to consider for 2027.

A move to the Borgo Panigale manufacturer could be possible in another way, with Ducati known to sign riders to contracts directly with them and send them to satellite teams. VR46 are interested in Acosta, having had talks with him in 2025, and would be a strong option.

Honda have also spoken to Acosta about a potential move in 2027. The Japanese giants are plotting a huge move on the rider market as they look to return to the front of the field.

They have the resources and budget to do that and to entice Acosta to join them. However, the KTM star is not interested in money, but rather he is looking for the fastest bike on the grid; whoever has it is where he is likely to try and move to.
