Marc Marquez has written MotoGP history once again as he secures his seventh premier class title at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Francesco Bagnaia claimed victory at Motegi with his Ducati teammate finishing second. Marc Marquez needed to outscore brother Alex Marquez by three points to seal the title; the Gresini rider could only manage sixth.

Neil Hodgson thinks Marquez is secretly ‘seething’ over Bagnaia beating him, but the championship and his comeback will be on his mind the most. His dominance in 2025 has been years in the making after multiple injury setbacks from his crash at Jerez in 2020.

Marquez has now equalled Valentino Rossi for seven MotoGP titles and nine motorcycle Grand Prix championships. His incredible accomplishment has been applauded by several key figures, including 2024 champion Jorge Martin.

Jorge Martin says ‘no words needed’ for Marc Marquez as he congratulates him on 2025 title

The Spaniard made history last season as he became the first rider to win the MotoGP title with an independent team. Martin left Ducati for Aprilia after Marquez snubbed him for a factory seat.

Defending his title with Aprilia was always going to be a tough ask, but it has been an incredibly difficult year for Martin. The 27-year-old suffered numerous injuries in pre-season, before missing almost half the season after a crash in Qatar.

He has slowly been getting back up to speed since then, but the Aprilia rider suffered another major setback this weekend at Motegi. Martin broke his collarbone after colliding with teammate Marco Bezzecchi on lap one of the Sprint race.

Martin was in tears during his debrief with Aprilia as he kept asking if Bezzecchi was OK after the crash. The Spaniard was ruled out of the race on Sunday, and he watched from the sidelines as Marquez secured his seventh title.

Posting on Instagram shortly after the race, Martin shared a picture of him and Marquez celebrating on the podium back in 2024. He sent his congratulations to his fellow compatriot: “Chapeau @marcmarquez93 . No words needed! Congrats champion.”

Toprak Razgatlioglu sends message to Marc Marquez after winning 2025 MotoGP title

MotoGP’s official Instagram account saw several key figures from the sport send messages to Marquez after wrapping up the championship in Motegi.

World Superbike champion Toprak Razgatlioglu, who will join Pramac Yamaha in 2026, wrote under the post: “Congratulations champ.” The Turkish rider will be looking to compete alongside the seven-time MotoGP champion when he arrives on the grid next year.

Honda satellite team LCR wrote: “Huge congrats to Marc and the whole Ducati team, what a season!” Marquez won the title at Honda’s home race, with Joan Mir grabbing a podium for the Japanese giants in third.

With the title secured with five races to spare, Marquez will be looking ahead to 2026, where everyone will be wondering if anyone can beat the Spaniard.
