Marc Marquez won his fourth San Marino Grand Prix last year with Gresini in his first season atop a Ducati bike, and MotoGP fans are over the moon to see one aspect of the memorable win return at Misano.
Marquez stepped into a league of his own at Misano with the victory in 2024 as he became the most successful rider at the Italian circuit. The four wins in the premier class complement his two wins in Moto2 and one victory in the 125cc class.
In a tribute to the late founder of Gresini Racing, Fausto Gresini, Marquez rode atop a bike adorned in a special livery, something that the team has done every year at Misano since the untimely death of the former Grand Prix motorcyclist.
Whilst the factory Ducati rider won’t be in white for the San Marino Grand Prix, his brother Alex Marquez will be, as well as Fermin Aldeguer. Alex is currently second in the championship and is the only reason why Marc has not yet been crowned as the 2025 champion.

MotoGP fans are loving the return of Gresini’s tribute livery to the team’s founder
MotoGP fans were patiently awaiting the team’s confirmation that they would be using the tribute livery at Misano, following Gresini’s MotoE rider Matteo Ferrari donning the colours in the category on Saturday. The Italian rider went on to win the second and final race of the weekend.
Taking to social media following Gresini’s announcement, fans were quick to express their awe for the Italian team’s beautiful livery.
Under the official Instagram post, one fan expressed their relief that the livery would be making another appearance, commenting, “Yes! I hoped you were doing this after seeing the MotoE bike today.”
A user on X was also glad to see the livery return, posting, “Gorgeous, and it brings back sweet memories.”
Another X user appreciated the continuation of the tribute to the team’s late founder, replying, “Spectacular, a tribute to Fausto.”
One fan shared a similar sentiment and is also desperate to see the team utilise the tricolour-adorned livery more in the future, adding, “You have to race all year with those graphics on the bike! Spectacular.”
Another fan on Instagram remembered seeing Marquez on the podium in the white overalls, commenting, “Beautiful. The one Marc won with.”
The livery was hailed as “the best special livery of the season” by another fan who can’t wait to see the Ducati bikes hit the track again in white.

Marc Marquez will be hoping to replicate his 2024 feat at Misano after crashing out in the Sprint race
The high-flying Spaniard had just taken the lead on lap six of the Sprint race before he slid off his Ducati GP25 and into the barriers at turn 15.
Marquez’s incident was met with a roar of cheers from Italian fans who have been frustrated by the Spaniard’s sheer dominance of the 2025 campaign.
Valentino Rossi also cracked a smile at the crash as he watched his most notorious rival delay their chances of equalling his tally of seven titles in the premier class.
With Marquez currently holding a 173-point lead over his brother in second place, he will need a solid haul of points in the next two races to be able to secure the title once the chequered flag at the Japanese Grand Prix drops.
The title will mark a dominant return to form for the 32-year-old following an injury-ridden final few years with the factory Honda team between 2021 and 2023.
