Four of the current MotoGP riders have factory Ducati contracts through at least the 2026 season, yet Luigi Dall’Igna is already looking into adding another to their ranks.
The Borgo Panigale crew control the immediate futures of factory Ducati pair Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia, along with Fabio Di Giannantonio of VR46 and Gresini rookie Fermin Aldeguer. Franco Morbidelli and Alex Marquez are under contract only for VR46 and Gresini.
Ducati hold options to extend Aldeguer’s contract through the 2027 and 2028 seasons, as well, having bet on his potential in Moto2. General manager Dall’Igna believes Aldeguer will be the “future of Ducati”, too, but that will not prevent him from exploring possible signings.

Ducati target David Alonso only wants to graduate to MotoGP as a Moto2 champion
One rider attracting a lot of interest with the 2027 MotoGP season in mind is Moto2 wonder David Alonso. It is thought that every MotoGP manufacturer has already approached Alonso to check out his situation, having immediately adapted to the intermediate class this season.

Alonso stepped up to Moto2 with CFMoto Aspar after dominantly winning the 2024 Moto3 title with the Spanish team. The 19-year-old won 14 of the 20 races in the 2024 lightweight class championship and is already a Moto2 Grand Prix winner, as he won the Hungarian GP.
Given the Colombian’s talents, Dall’Igna will roll out the red carpet for Ducati to sign Alonso to a MotoGP contract before deciding which of their satellite squads he races for. But every MotoGP brand is likely to target Alonso for 2027 when the new rules with 850cc bikes start.
Alonso only wants to move up to MotoGP as a Moto2 champion, though, as it would “close” his chapter in the intermediate class like he closed out his Moto3 career. He sits 16th in the 2025 Moto2 standings after 14 of the 22 races and is 136 points adrift of Manuel Gonzalez.
“I leave these conversations to my manager,” Alonso has told Formula.hu. “For me, it is very important to close each chapter. Last year, the Moto3 chapter with the world title, and then I want to close Moto2, as well.
“It is important to become stable in a category and fight for the championship before moving on to the next level… The perfect moment [to move to MotoGP] will come when I win the Moto2 world championship.”
David Alonso dominated Moto3 and is now the first Colombian to win a Moto2 race

While the grid for the 2026 MotoGP season is now almost full, teams are already casting an eye towards the 2027 campaign. The MotoGP rider market could explode next season, with Johann Zarco of LCR Honda currently the only rider confirmed as having a contract for 2027.
So, each constructor in Ducati, Yamaha, Honda, KTM and Aprilia is monitoring Alonso, with plenty of bikes potentially available for him to jump onto in 2027. But teams will want to see him finishing more races, as well as taking more wins and podiums, to table potential deals.
Alonso has only finished nine of his first 14 Moto2 races and has scored points in seven thus far. The CFMoto Aspar ace also only took one podium with P3 at Silverstone in May’s British Grand Prix before Alonso became the first Colombian to win a Moto2 race at Balaton Park.
