The main talk in the Hungarian Grand Prix paddock at the moment regards the future of Pramac’s Jack Miller. He has yet to know if he will be on the MotoGP grid next season.

The 30-year-old is the only Yamaha rider on the grid not to have their seat sorted for the 2026 MotoGP season.

Miller signed a one-year deal with Pramac Racing ahead of the current campaign and has struggled with the poor performance of the YZR-M1 alongside the other riders who are part of the Japanese constructors’ stable.

Jack Miller is still under ‘serious consideration’ for a Yamaha seat next year

Speaking in an interview with The Race, Yamaha boss Paolo Pavesio told the publication the latest developments regarding Miller’s future at the team after the Australian revealed his frustrations with the prolonged wait to know what next season will look like for him.

“One thing I would like to say is that we have always been pretty open with our riders, the ones that are with us,” Pavesio said.” I understand that everyone would like to have a quick reply. I understand all the dynamics, and we are just trying to do our best.

I really like [Miller] as a person. I didn’t know him before. I understand the personal frustration, and I also heard the recording of the interviews.

“I think it was the fourth question in a row asking the exact same thing, and I also understand that you guys have your job to do, but sometimes you make them do another job, which is controlling their emotions a bit to the limit.

“I think we have a very good relationship personally, and as a manufacturer, this is also proven by Jack joining the Suzuka [8 Hours endurance race] team and doing a very good job, which for Yamaha is something very special.

“He knows that he is in very serious consideration. He knows this.”

Who is in contention for the second Pramac seat alongside Toprak Razgatlioglu?

Two-time World Superbikes champion Toprak Razgatlioglu was announced as one of Pramac’s riders in June, sparking a debate on what will happen to their current riders, Miller and Miguel Oliveira.

Despite having a factory deal with Yamaha, which runs through until the end of next season, Oliveira has now ‘accepted’ his exit from Pramac at the end of the current campaign.

After missing out on their prime candidate, Diogo Moreira, to LCR Honda, Pramac have switched their attention to Manu Gonzalez as an alternative to Miller instead. The 23-year-old is currently leading the Moto2 world championship by 19 points, having won four races so far in the intermediate category.

Even with it being well-known that Pramac are looking elsewhere for their final seat on the 2026 grid, Miller expressed his desire to continue racing for Yamaha. The Australian believes he still has a lot more room to grow with the team after just half a season as part of their set-up.
