Jack Miller reveals what he’s said to Yamaha in MotoGP talks as he changes his tune on his future

Yamaha is yet to announce who will partner Toprak Razgatlioglu at Pramac Racing next season, despite setting a deadline of the summer break for when it will be confirmed.

Razgatlioglu’s future as a MotoGP rider was confirmed in early June, with the World Superbikes champion set to become the first Turkish rider in the history of the premier class.

Yamaha said that Miller’s future would be known by the start of the summer break, but with the Austrian Grand Prix now upon us, we’re still none the wiser on where, or if, the Australian will be taking part in Grand Prix motorcycle racing next season.

The lack of a decision may stem from the fact that Yamaha is still deliberating on Alex Rins’ position in the factory team, with it being reported that there is an ‘increasing possibility’ that the Spaniard is ousted from his ride in favour of Miller.

Jack Miller feels like he can still ‘do more’ with Yamaha in MotoGP

Speaking to The Race ahead of the return of MotoGP at the Austrian Grand Prix, Miller made it clear that he still wants to race for Yamaha amid rumours that the Moto2 championship leader Manu Gonzalez could pair Razgatlioglu at Pramac next season.

“I’m trying to be as patient as I possibly can because I love this project,” Miller said. “I love working with Yamaha. I enjoy the whole environment, I love my crew chief. I’m very, very happy where I am, and I feel like I can go further, improve, do more.

“But like I said, we’ll just wait and see. I think they’re very happy with me. And I made the call in plenty of time to ask if there’s anything more I can do, different, whatever, I’m an open book, trying to do what I can.”

Razgatlioglu’s move to MotoGP started a domino effect on the WSBK grid, with BMW replacing him with Danilo Petrucci and Barni Racing currently looking at Yamaha WSBK rider Jonathan Rea to replace him.

If this all falls into place, Miller could find himself riding for Yamaha in WSBK if both parties are open to the idea.

Time is ticking for Miller, as only five spots on the MotoGP grid for 2026 remain. Despite wanting to race on a Yamaha bike next season, he has naturally looked at other opportunities for him to stick around in MotoGP.

When asked if he is aware of how long the decision by Yamaha will take, Miller responded, “”First, it was before summer break, then it was after summer break.

“Getting delayed. Why are we delaying it, I don’t know, but hopefully something comes out soon. Obviously, other opportunities are starting to close up.”

To add an extra incentive for Miller’s desire to stay at the Japanese constructor, Pramac boss Gino Borsoi revealed how Yamaha are making ‘gigantic’ efforts with their MotoGP programme, stating that he can’t recall a bigger project being made by another constructor in the sport.
