Marc Marquez has made more history in 2025 with Ducati as he won MotoGP’s 1000th Grand Prix in Austria.
The Spaniard fended off strong challenges from Marco Bezzecchi and Fermin Aldeguer to claim his ninth win of the season and sixth Grand Prix victory in a row.
Marquez could only manage P4 in qualifying as he lined up behind teammate Francesco Bagnaia for the second consecutive race. He tried to better his time in the closing stages, but perhaps pushed a little too hard as Marquez crashed at turn three.
Bagnaia predicted that Marquez would lead by turn one; while he was not entirely correct, he was close as the 32-year-old climbed to second off the start in both the Sprint and the Grand Prix.
He passed Marco Bezzecchi for the lead on Saturday and did not look back as he claimed his 12th Sprint win of 2025. The Aprilia rider and Aldeguer put immense pressure on Marquez on Sunday, but it was not enough to deny him victory.
Marc Marquez says it will be ‘hard for me to understand’ the day where he cannot win for Ducati
Ducati teammate Bagnaia dropped to P8 as he encountered further struggles on the GP25. Alex Marquez came home in 10th after he served a long lap penalty for his crash with Joan Mir in Czechia.
Marquez has now extended his lead in the championship to 142 points with nine races to go. With his current form, the Spaniard is looking to beat, but he has warned that the day will come where he cannot win.

Speaking to DAZN after the race, he says that he is keeping the same mentality in his bid to win his seventh MotoGP title. It will be tough for him to understand the day when he is beaten, but he is ‘working hard’ at it.
“We’re keeping the same mentality. There are nine races left, right?” he said. “What I said when we passed the halfway point: There are nine left, and when I pass Balaton, there will be eight left.
“The important thing is to keep adding points, always trying to understand the limits in the race. Going with so much momentum, it will be hard for me to understand the day and accept the day when we can’t win, which will come.
“There will come a Sunday or a Saturday when we can’t win. I’m working hard mentally, working on myself mentally to understand that day when we can’t win and score points, but as long as the momentum lasts, we’ll try to keep going.”

Can anyone stop Marc Marquez in 2025?
With just nine events to go and a 142-point lead, Marquez looks almost guaranteed to win the title with the Borgo Panigale outfit.
Marquez issued a brilliant response to Jorge Lorenzo when he asked him about the records that he could break this season. The Spaniard is on course to level Valentino Rossi’s record of seven premier class titles, as well as most wins in a season.
Casey Stoner did not foresee Marquez’s dominance with Ducati in 2025. Many would have expected a close fight between the Spaniard and Bagnaia, but it has been a one-sided battle.
Marquez looks utterly unstoppable on the GP25. He is going to take some stopping if he is to somehow lose this title.
