Marco Bezzecchi will start from pole position for the first time this season after snatching the fastest lap of the session in the final stages of a dramatic qualifying session for the Austrian Grand Prix.
Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia round out the front row of the grid alongside Bezzecchi. Marc Marquez will start from fourth after suffering from an off at turn three in one of his final flying laps, making it anyone’s to play for in the closing moments of the session.
Bezzecchi made it through to Q2 after setting one of the fastest times in Q1, with Enea Bastianini also progressing through from the initial session. Bastianini joins Marquez on the second row, with Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer slotting himself in the sixth spot of the grid for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Despite claiming the second-highest number of pole positions during the current season, Yamaha’s Quartararo was unable to claim a spot in the second qualifying session for the first time this season.
Johann Zarco will start from 12th after an off in the early stages of Q2. The Frenchman was unable to recover a better grid slot in his remaining laps of the session.
