Jack Miller is fighting for his future on the MotoGP grid as he waits for Pramac and Yamaha to decide whether the Australian will remain at the Italian squad for 2026.
The 30-year-old returned to Tuscany for the 2025 MotoGP season after Yamaha gave Miller a lifeline to stay in the premier class paddock with their new satellite squad, Pramac. Yet the Queensland native only penned a one-year factory contract to prove himself on the YZR-M1.
Miller has largely stepped up to the job since his first outing on a Yamaha M1. The four-time MotoGP Grand Prix winner is the Japanese manufacturer’s second-highest-scoring rider this year with 52 points from 12 rounds, trailing only the 102 that Fabio Quartararo has secured.
Yet Pramac cannot confirm Miller for the 2026 MotoGP season yet as the deadline to decide who has to leave between the Australian and teammate Miguel Oliveira has not arrived. The pair have uncertain futures after Yamaha signed Toprak Razgatlioglu to join Pramac in 2026.
Pramac are ‘still angry’ with Jack Miller for crashing out of the 2025 French Grand Prix
Miller might have convinced Yamaha to keep him at Pramac for the 2026 MotoGP season in May had he not crashed out of the French Grand Prix at Le Mans. The Australian was in the prime position to pen the Iwata outfit’s first win since the 2022 German GP until he retired.

While 13 riders including Ducati’s Marc Marquez jumped into the pit lane after the sighting lap to swap onto slick tyres, Miller held his nerve and stayed out on wet tyres. His decision to rely on the rain on the radar even came good after three laps, as the weather worsened.
But Miller had a highside at the last corner and crashed out of the French GP on Lap 6 of 26 after losing the front tyre. His crash likely denied Pramac and Yamaha a win, as LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco won the French GP despite running 10 seconds behind Miller before his crash.
Miller could not fathom after the race at Le Mans how his quest for a first race win since the 2022 Japanese GP while a factory Ducati racer unravelled the way it did. Pramac are also ‘still angry’ that Miller did not win May’s French GP after his crash, according to Peter Bom.
Bom said on the Oxley Bom MotoGP Podcast: “The team are still angry with him for that… He was in the best situation to win, and they know it. They remind him every single day.”

Miller was the highest-placed rider who held their nerve to start the French GP with the wet-weather Michelin tyres at Le Mans this May. But Zarco would pick up the pieces from the 13 riders who had to serve two long lap penalties after mistakenly switching onto the dry tyres.

It proved to be the right decision to lose ground in the early laps while Le Mans was still dry as Miller and Zarco soon cut through the order. But Miller’s fall helped Zarco to become the first Frenchman to win the French GP since 1954 and the first Frenchman to win at Le Mans.
Yamaha would have revelled in a Miller victory, which could have also been huge in helping to secure his seat on the 2026 grid, as the Iwata outfit have not won a Grand Prix in the last 62 rounds. His crash at Le Mans even followed Miller crashing in Qatar and him retiring at Jerez.
