‘Devastated’ Jack Miller reveals what Pramac chief told him in private before French Grand Prix fall

Jack Miller was on the edge of achieving something incredible at the French Grand Prix before a surprise highside.

The king of mixed conditions had opted to gamble pre-race on a strategy which looked set to pay off after just a few laps for Pramac.

Remaining calm, Miller rode his wet bike on a fairly dry track until another downpour of rain arrived five laps into the race.

Unfortunately, the MotoGP gods weren’t in his favour and he was caught out at the final corner by a highside, as were many of his rivals at the Grand Prix of France.

Despite the result, Pramac’s stance on Miller’s future is promising. There’s interest in Toprak Razgatlioglu among teams, but the Turkish rider seems to flirt with a move every year.

However, Chris Vermeulen has ‘no doubt’ Pramac are endangering Miller and believes that the team may be in conversation with multiple riders.

Jack Miller ‘trusted’ Gino Borsoi’s prediction before the French Grand Prix

Few riders were able to keep their cool in the Le Mans frenzy, but eventual race winner Johann Zarco and Miller were two of them.

Miller was a few seconds down the road on the Frenchman and would have inherited the lead when everyone ahead swapped for their wet bikes again.

But, being caught out by the last corner had killer consequences and denied him the opportunity to win first for the first time since 2022.

According to the Italian edition of Motorsport.com, the Aussie couldn’t believe his luck after crashing out of the race.

“I’m devastated,” he said. “We had done everything right. I’m sorry for the team, because we had the right forecast. Gino had told me before the race that the rain would come back, and I trusted his word.

“At one point, I said to myself: ‘Okay, if the rain doesn’t come in this round, we’re f—–‘, but it came. And yes, right at the crucial moment when the crossover was about to arrive, I ended up on the ground”.

What could Jack Miller do in 2025 if Pramac opts to drop him?

10 years into his MotoGP career and the only current manufacturer that Miller hasn’t had a taste of is Aprilia.

It’s hard to see where he might go in 2026 if Pramac decides that a younger option is where their future should lie.

Given the recent revelation that Jorge Martin could be set to leave Aprilia at the end of 2025, maybe a seat becomes available there.

But as a factory team, they will have no shortage of options available to them. It depends how much experience they would like to bring in.

It’s going to be valuable in the future to have a rider with many laps under his belt heading into the new regulations in 2027, but by then, Miller will be 32.
