Jorge Martin has had a nightmare 2025 season with Aprilia. The defending champion has spent most of the year out with numerous injuries.

His start to life at the Noale-based outfit got off to an awful start in pre-season. Martin suffered a violent highside at turn two in Sepang, ruling him out of the rest of winter testing.

During his recovery, the 27-year-old broke the scaphoid in his left hand in a motocross crash. The severity of the injury meant the Aprilia rider had to miss the first three races of the season.

Martin returned to the MotoGP paddock in Austin, before finally getting onto his RS-GP25 at the Qatar Grand Prix. The Spaniard was not looking to take risks on his comeback to the premier class, but unfortunately, disaster struck.

During Sunday’s race, he was hit by Fabio Di Giannantonio after falling off his bike at turn 12. Martin suffered 11 broken ribs and a punctured lung, leaving him set for another spell on the sidelines.

Aleix Espargaro says Martin will suffer a ‘mental blow’ being out injured again, especially with it being his third serious crash of 2025. But his fellow MotoGP riders have been quick to lift his spirits.

Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta join several MotoGP riders in wishing Jorge Martin well in his recovery

Several key figures in motorsport have rushed to social media to offer their support to the 2024 champion. Ferrari F1 legend Jean Alesi got in touch with Martin to wish him well in his recovery.

Ahead of this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix, several riders shared their messages of support to the Spaniard via MotoGP’s official Instagram account.

Martin’s 2024 title rival Francesco Bagnaia said: It’s impossible to understand your feeling right now. Try to show why you are the #1. Ciao!

Ducati teammate Marc Marquez knows from experience what it is like to have injury setbacks, and he offered a piece of advice to his fellow compatriot: “Be calm. You are very young, you have a lot of years in front of you.

“I know, I have the experience and I can understand your moment. I can understand what you are thinking but I’ll just say to you that you have a lot of time.”

KTM rider Pedro Acosta said: “We know that you are super strong and you’ve had many of these injuries across your career. You will be back stronger than ever.

Martin’s Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi, as well as Fabio Quartararo, Espargaro and Di Giannantonio joined others in wishing the 27-year-old well.

Jorge Martin has just two words for MotoGP fans after heartwarming videos messages

Martin was recently discharged from hospital in Qatar, with the Aprilia rider set to return home this week. His punctured lung prevents him from taking a normal flight back to Spain.

Martin was very encouraged in hospital despite the severity of his injuries. The timeline for his recovery is unknown, but early indications suggest he will be out until the summer break.

It is devastating news for Aprilia, who have had a difficult start to the season as they sit just one point above the bottom of the constructors’ championship.

But Martin remains in high spirits, and the well wishes from his fellow riders will go a long way for his morale. Posting on his Instagram story, the 27-year-old said to his colleagues: “Thanks riders!”, followed by a heart and praying hands emojis.
