Jorge Martin recently shared another update on his recovery after a serious accident at the Qatar Grand Prix. The MotoGP world champion insists he’s ‘ready to fight again’.
Martin remains at a local hospital, but his Instagram post shows he’s able to walk. He suffered a collapsed lung and several broken ribs when VR46 rider Fabio di Giannantonio hit him as he fell from his Aprilia bike.
The 2024 world champion could be out until after the summer break after his third injury of a devastating season. He had to undergo surgery twice during the month of February following crashes in the official MotoGP test at Sepang and a private supermoto outing in Spain.
The Qatar GP was supposed to launch his comeback after he missed the first three races. Martin looked competitive on the Aprilia, getting impressively close to teammate Marco Bezzecchi.

“Challenge accepted.” Martin wrote. “I feel small but very important improvements every day… will be a long journey but I am ready to fight again together with my people.”
He received a fresh round of messages after his post, including one from his close friend Aleix Espargaro. The Honda test rider wrote ‘let’s go for it’.
Gresini boss Nadia Padovani was also in touch, commenting ‘forza campione’. Jean Alesi, a Formula 1 Grand Prix winner with Ferrari who stood on the podium 32 times, said exactly the same thing.
Finally, Aprilia’s official account said ‘by your side’ after their blockbuster move took an unthinkable turn. Lorenzo Savadori will return for the Spanish GP next weekend after deputising at the first three races.
MotoGP doctor Angel Charte insists Martin is still feeling motivated despite a cruelly-timed blow, the same sentiment he expressed in his post. He will face both a mental and a physical battle when he eventually returns.

Martin’s competitors have rallied behind him since last Sunday’s incident. A ‘traumatised’ Di Giannantonio went straight to the Aprilia garage after the race to check on his condition.
Legends of the sport have made contact too, with Jorge Lorenzo sending ‘strength’ to Martin. The Spaniard didn’t expect to be competing for the championship this year, instead viewing 2025 as preparation for a 2026 assault.
Espargaro says Martin is ‘really screwed’ but is thankful above all that he’s okay. The Aprilia rider feels deeply sympathetic because ‘he didn’t deserve it for anything in the world’.
Martin isn’t the only rider absent at the moment, with Pramac’s Miguel Oliveira also out. Oliveira is a doubt for Jerez after appearing in Lusail with his arm in a sling.
