Randy Mamola has revealed the “natural” talent that he believes Jack Miller shares with the reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez.
Marc Marquez has long been regarded as the benchmark for every rider who comes and goes on the MotoGP grid. The seven-time premier class title-winner has been close to impossible to get the better of, with his impeccable record against teammates being clear evidence.

Even Jack Miller has recognised Marquez’s sheer prowess on two wheels, previously pinpointing exactly why the Spaniard has been “unbeatable” during his previous championship feats.
Despite that, MotoGP legend Randy Mamola believes he has seen Miller showcase the same sort of “natural” talent that Marquez possesses on a premier class prototype.

In a recent appearance on the Gypsy Tales podcast, Mamola was asked for his thoughts on which rider from today’s MotoGP grid would win a race if everyone was given the exact same prototype to ride atop.
How will Jack Miller be remembered as a MotoGP rider?
Of course, Marquez is the obvious answer here, but the MotoGP legend also paid tribute to the talents of Miller and his Pramac teammate Toprak Razgatlioglu, who often find themselves struggling at the back of the pack due to Yamaha’s subpar bike.
“I mean, most of these guys all ride dirt, if not all, and unfortunately, a lot of them ride too much motocross,” Mamola began. I believe they should do dirt track, to be more fine and so on.
“But anyway, Marc is one of those guys that has that knack for feeling, and Jack. When the going gets tough on the racetrack, when it’s cold and this and that, Jack understands his body, understands his feeling, and that’s his natural instinct.”
The 13-time premier class Grand Prix winner then drew attention to the fact that Miller can’t flex his prowess atop the current iteration of Yamaha’s M1: “Unfortunately, he’s on a motorcycle that doesn’t give that back to him.”
Adding to Miller’s poor luck, it looks as if the Australian fan favourite will be departing from the MotoGP grid at the end of the year due to a lack of open seats for him.
Moto2 star Izan Guevara is expected to take Miller’s seat for 2027, with the 31-year-old’s next career move understood to be with Yamaha’s efforts in the World Superbikes category.
