Jack Miller once pinpointed why Marc Marquez was ‘unbeatable’ during the 2019 MotoGP season

Few people on earth have ever dominated a racing championship like Marc Marquez did during the 2019 MotoGP season.

Even an incredible year in 2025 couldn’t match it. It was the Spaniard’s finest hour with Honda, just before everything came crashing down again.

If Marquez hadn’t crashed out of the lead at the Americas Grand Prix, he would have finished in the top two at every single race that season.

A handful can say they’ve enjoyed as much MotoGP success as he has, and he still has plenty of time to break even more records.

Just a year prior, Marquez had a ‘dangerous’ clash with Valentino Rossi and has since admitted that he had a lot to learn.

Marquez has been told ‘even the greatest’ riders decline, but at the age of 32, he shows no signs of slowing down just yet. In fact, he’s only just getting started with Ducati.

Jack Miller felt Marc Marquez was ‘unbeatable’ during the 2019 MotoGP season

Marquez hides his true complaints at Ducati, and that’s part of his role as a leader and champion. He needs to keep morale high, however he can.

2026 is going to offer him the biggest challenge since he started riding a Ducati bike, as he attempts to make a comeback from a serious collarbone injury, sustained at the 2025 Indonesian Grand Prix.

But, even if his bike does give him grief, fellow rider Jack Miller has already explained how he deals with ‘problems, and what makes him ‘unbeatable’ on his day.

“Marc’s Marc, he’s a different beast. He can ride around problems, like when he’s struggling with grip,” he said in Mat Oxley’s Marc The Magnificent biography.

“One of the Honda’s best points is that it turns quite sharply, especially with Marc on it, and especially in those tight chicanes, but that means the bike isn’t perfect for fast, flowing tracks, so he’s unbeatable for the championship.

“The Honda isn’t the best bike everywhere, but when you put him on top of it, he’s unbeatable for the championship.”

How does Marc Marquez make himself so hard to beat?

Marquez is one of the hardest workers on the grid, and it’s a big reason why he can be so dominant. That counts for what he does within and outside the paddock.

He trains hard, pushes himself physically and mentally, and isn’t afraid to put himself in harm’s way to improve.

Marquez showed why he’s a champion on his first day at Ducati by learning everyone’s names and job roles in advance of meeting them.

His dedication to competing is on another level, and it’s why he’s likely to keep winning for a long time. He knows exactly what he’s doing now.
