Tech3 owner Guenther Steiner has revealed his latest sentiments regarding the French satellite team’s line-up for the 2027 MotoGP season, explaining why Brad Binder is unlikely to receive a lifeline from them.

MotoGP fans are set to lose one of the biggest fan-favourites from the grid next year, as mystery and pessimism surround Brad Binder’s future in the premier class.

How do you think Guenther Steiner will fare in MotoGP as Tech3 boss?

Despite Pedro Acosta voicing his opinion that Binder “definitely” deserves a spot on the 2027 grid, the South African rider’s options are waning with every passing announcement that lands in the MotoGP rider market.

Tech3 have emerged as a final lifeline for Binder in recent weeks, but the team’s top brass has just explained why a satellite move for the current factory KTM man may no longer be on the cards.

Guenther Steiner’s latest on Tech3’s 2027 rider line-up

During an interview with TNT Sports ahead of qualifying at the German Grand Prix, Steiner was asked for the latest regarding Tech3‘s decision on their line-up for 2027. Luca Marini and Senna Agius have been heavily linked with the seats in particular.

“I’m still excited, because I always get fake news on what we are going to do that I don’t know about,” the Italian executive said (09:48 11/07).
”Hopefully, in the next two to three weeks, we’ll announce what we’re doing; we are getting closer.

“I’ve been speaking about it with Pit [Beirer] because we want to make a decision together; we want to bring KTM forward. We haven’t finished yet, it’s taking us time, because in the end, our process to choose riders started late. Obviously, the longer we wait, the less choice we have.”

Steiner was then asked how important it would be for Tech3 to retain at least one of the KTM riders who are set to depart the stable at the end of the year, to which he explained why the French satellite team are now unlikely to offer Binder a lifeline.

“Sometimes, change is good, I say,” Steiner replied. “Sometimes, completely starting a new chapter is good. We are a new chapter of Tech3; I wouldn’t say completely new, but we want to do things differently, and sometimes just moving on is also good.

“Is it better to continue with what you know, or do you start something new? Let’s see. You just have to be a little bit patient and then you will get to know what we’re doing.”

MotoGP pundit Neil Hodgson wholeheartedly agrees with Steiner’s sentiments, adding (09:50 11/07), “I actually don’t blame them for even moving Brad Binder on.”

However, Hodgson continued to urge other teams on the MotoGP grid to take a chance on the South African: “I think it is time for a change, but then with Brad Binder, I would love to see him on another bike.”
