Marc Marquez was one of the few figures who wasn’t too surprised by the extent of Marco Bezzecchi’s injuries, having experienced it himself.
Marquez finished P7 at the Dutch Grand Prix, as Ai Ogura managed to win his first MotoGP race and earn a huge result for Trackhouse.
However, one of the most notable stories from the weekend was Marco Bezzecchi’s massive crash at the start of the race.

After the race, Marquez wished Bezzecchi well, having experienced a crash at Assen just a year before during the 2025 Dutch Grand Prix weekend.
Marc Marquez made several complaints about the gravel trap at Assen last year, admitting that those changes never came to pass.

Marc Marquez told officials to improve the run-off areas at Assen
Speaking to AS reporter Mela Chercoles after the Dutch Grand Prix, Marc Marquez said that he complained to officials about the gravel trap at Assen a year ago.
However, none of his complaints were addressed, and he saw both Marco Bezzecchi and Fermin Aldeguer suffer brutal injuries because of their avoidable crashes.
“The difference is that I left Holland without injuries. This is what I was looking for on this circuit, because we saw this weekend that every rider who crashed and went into the gravel…
“I already complained last year that the gravel here isn’t good, because you go in at high speed. But Fermin didn’t go in that fast, and you saw the step when he hit it.
“Today, the same thing happened to Bezzecchi. I understood it that way on Friday, and I said, ‘I want to leave here without injuries,’ and that’s what I did.”

Speaking further in the interview, Marc Marquez also admitted that his health and struggles on the track allowed him to set one major goal for himself – avoid getting hurt.
“More than a crazy race, it was a long one, a very long one, because I was on the bike waiting for those last 10 laps to take that extra step, and I did, even with the soft rear tyre.
“I was riding smoothly and precisely, to finish the race and leave Holland without any injuries.”
There is some speculation that Marquez successfully baited Bezzecchi with mind games and put enough pressure on him to force him into a mistake.
However, given how Marquez struggled against Fabio Di Giannantonio and other riders on the day, it might just have been a case of Marquez not doing well at a track he has historically struggled at.
