Ai Ogura is a MotoGP race winner after clinching the win at the Dutch Grand Prix in an Aprilia 1-2-3.
The Japanese rider fended off teammate Raul Fernandez and Aprilia’s Jorge Martin to grab his first victory in the premier class. Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi suffered a disaster at Assen, crashing out violently on lap three.
Aprilia looked set to be the dominant force at the Dutch Grand Prix. The Noale outfit locked out the top four grid slots and Fernandez won the Sprint race for Trackhouse – they would take some beating at Assen.

Ogura got a great launch off the line and took the lead down into turn one, but Martin swiftly took the advantage again into the next corner. The factory Ducatis soon entered the frame on lap two, with Marc Marquez moving up to third behind Fernandez.
On lap three, disaster struck for championship leader Bezzecchi as he crashed heavily in the final sector. He has now failed to score points in the past three races.

The remaining three Aprilias soon pulled away from the field as Marquez fell behind. Martin had bridged a decent gap to the Trackhouse riders, but Fernandez and Ogura soon hounded down the factory bike.
Fernandez had to bide his time and eventually passed Martin on lap 18, with Ogura also getting through with a brilliant pass at turn one. It soon became a battle between the Trackhouse riders for the lead.
Ogura escaped a technical problem, which saw Pedro Acosta and Pecco Bagnaia retire, to mount another late charge for the lead, passing Fernandez on lap 20. He held his nerve to grab his maiden MotoGP win over Fernandez and Martin.
