Marco Bezzecchi has lost the lead of the 2026 MotoGP championship after suffering a violent crash at the Dutch Grand Prix. The accident garnered a strong reaction from some in the media centre.
Bezzecchi has suffered his third pointless race in a row after crashing out of the Dutch Grand Prix on the third lap. It was a heavy impact, with the Aprilia rider seen barrel-rolling across the gravel trap.
The Italian was taken to the medical centre before being transferred to the hospital for further checks, Aprilia confirmed in a statement.

MotoGP reporters ‘jeered’ Marco Bezzecchi after his Dutch Grand Prix crash

Ai Ogura went on to win the Dutch GP ahead of Raul Fernandez and Jorge Martin. The Aprilia rider now leads his teammate Bezzecchi by seven points in the standings with his P3 finish.
It is, of course, hoped that Bezzecchi is given the all clear after such a huge impact, but it seems that not everyone was as supportive.
As journalist Simon Patterson noted on X (formerly Twitter), members of the press were heard ‘jeering’ as the Aprilia rider crashed.

It shows how even the media centre are divided when it comes to riders and the title fight. Bezzecchi now has a lot of work to do to bounce back and reclaim the lead of the championship.
