Marc Marquez has made an honest admission about his ‘final years’ after putting pen to paper on a new Ducati contract.
This week, it was finally confirmed that Marquez had signed a new Ducati deal, which will keep him with the team until the end of the 2028 season.
The 33-year-old Spaniard, who is a seven-time MotoGP world champion, is still one of the best riders on the grid despite multiple injury setbacks.
In 2026, Marquez was forced to miss the Catalan Grand Prix after being involved in a huge crash during the Sprint at Le Mans.
Since his return, Marquez has secured back-to-back victories in Hungary and Czechia. He will be looking for a hat-trick this weekend in the Netherlands.

Marc Marquez admits he wants to ‘enjoy’ the ‘final years’ of his career
Speaking on Thursday, Marquez was asked about his new contract, and he outlined his ‘most ambitious goal’ for the remainder of his career.
The Spaniard was quick to state that he would like to ‘enjoy’ the ‘final years’ of his illustrious career.
He went on to say that most athletes end up ‘hating their sport’, something Marquez is adamant to avoid.
Marquez also hinted that he doesn’t know if this will be his ‘last contract’, hence why he wants to enjoy every moment instead of suffering. He vows to give 100 per cent and be competitive.
As reported by Speedweek, Marquez said: “The most ambitious goal is to enjoy my passion during the final years of my career.
“There are athletes who end up hating their sport by the time their careers are over, because usually, you’re battling injuries, pressure, or poor results at the end. I want to enjoy it during my final years—that’s the main goal.”

When further quizzed on his new deal and whether he had other offers, Marquez claimed that he didn’t ‘listen to other offers’.
The 33-year-old explained that he had put contract talks ‘on hold’ after his most recent injury.
However, as time went by, Marquez realised that he needed to have ‘faith’ in himself and eventually believed that he would reach an ‘acceptable’ level.
Looking ahead, Marquez is set to ride alongside Pedro Acosta, with the young Spaniard leaving KTM for Ducati ahead of the 2027 campaign.
Meanwhile, Marquez’s current Ducati teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, whose exit was confirmed on Wednesday, has signed for Aprilia, where he will be teammates with Marco Bezzecchi.
Bezzecchi’s current Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin is widely expected to join Yamaha before the 2027 MotoGP season gets underway.
