Marc Marquez’s win at the Czech Grand Prix has finally got him thinking that he can fight for the championship in 2026.
The Ducati rider made it back-to-back wins as he clinched victory at Brno. Marquez beat Ai Ogura in a tense fight at the front, with Sprint winner Pecco Bagnaia finishing third.
With Marco Bezzecchi being banned from the Czech Grand Prix for striking a marshal after his crash in the Sprint, Marquez is now 40 points off the championship leader. Even he cannot deny now that the championship fight is on.

Marc Marquez ‘cannot lie’ that he is now in a position to fight for the 2026 MotoGP title
Marquez previously said he could not fight for the title this year. Following his injury setbacks with his shoulder and his foot, he was 102 points behind Bezzecchi in the standings.
However, everyone in the paddock disagreed with Marquez and believed that he was still a firm title contender. Now, after winning in Czechia, the Ducati rider cannot deny that he is in the championship fight.

Speaking to TNT Sports 2 (21/06, 2:26 pm) after the race, he admitted that he has changed his mind about his title chances. He believes that he now has a chance to clinch his eighth MotoGP title and take the fight to Aprilia.
“I mean, 40 points behind. We are there, I cannot lie. I cannot say another thing. It’s true that when you are 103 points behind, I think, or more than 100 points, I mean, we were over.”
Marquez also stressed that he needs to get through Assen trouble-free. It is not one of his strongest tracks, by his own admission, as he says he struggles then even when fit.

The Ducati rider added: “We need to survive in a good way in Holland, in Assen, because it’s a circuit that even when I’m fit, I’m struggling a lot there. This year, we need to survive there and try to continue our championship.”
Marquez is now fourth in the standings behind Bezzecchi, Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio. He has a great chance to close the gap again at Assen, but the Aprilia will be a strong package next weekend.
