Pramac team manager Gino Borsoi’s praise for Moto2 ace Izan Guevara seems like the biggest hint that Jack Miller will leave their MotoGP line-up when his contract expires.
Miller is due to be a free agent at the end of the 2026 MotoGP season, having only earned a one-year extension to his factory Yamaha contract at the end of last year. Yamaha elected to re-sign the Australian for another season with Pramac to help develop their new V4 engine.
But while Miller’s experience with V4 engines has been a huge asset for the Iwata outfit, his form so far in 2026 has not been too encouraging. So, it is now widely expected that the axe will fall, and that Guevara will step up from Pramac’s Moto2 team to replace Miller for 2027.
You’re in charge of Yamaha, who are you taking as the 2027 Pramac MotoGP line-up?
Gino Borsoi’s praise for Izan Guevara is surely a sign that Jack Miller will leave Pramac
While Pramac are yet to confirm their 2027 line-up, it has even been said that Yamaha have already told Miller that he is surplus to requirements with the brand beyond this season. An array of reports also suggest that Yamaha have moved to agree Guevara’s MotoGP contract.
The writing may indeed be on the wall for Miller, as Pramac team boss Borsoi has stated that his squad’s “mission” in Moto2 is to develop their next MotoGP rider and that he also thinks Guevara meets “all the criteria”. He claims Guevara ticks every box that Pramac want to see.

“Our mission in Moto2 is clear,” Borsoi outlined to SPEEDWEEK. “The primary focus here is on developing MotoGP riders. Of course, this goes hand in hand with results on the track, but more important than a Moto2 title is the successful transfer of our riders to MotoGP.
“Izan is on the right track. After a year and a half, we are very pleased with his development. Working with young riders is always special.
“It’s never certain whether you’ll reach your goal. But in Izan’s case, I can say that we are happy. He currently meets all the criteria in terms of speed, age and maturity that we set for ourselves as long-term goals for the project.”
Borsoi has also stated that Pramac and Yamaha will consider Guevara to develop their 850cc bike for the 2027 MotoGP regulations, should he be promoted to the premier class. Borsoi’s reference to Guevara’s possible graduation for 2027 is a clear sign that Miller will be leaving.
“Izan was already allowed to ride in a MotoGP test in Valencia at the end of 2025, even if it was more of a gift,” he added. “There’s no decision on that at the moment, partly because the current Moto2 season is very intense and has priority. But should Izan be promoted to MotoGP, then we will of course consider him for the test programme.”
Does Jack Miller still have the talent to fight further up the grid?
Miller’s seat is the only Pramac ride believed to be available for Guevara next year, as Toprak Razgatlioglu is widely expected to remain with the team for the second season of his factory Yamaha contract. Yamaha are also believed to be hiring Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura for 2027.
Martin’s expected move from Aprilia to replace the Honda-bound Fabio Quartararo in 2027 and Ogura’s projected switch from Trackhouse to replace Alex Rins currently leaves Yamaha relying on Razgatlioglu and their test riders to help develop their 850cc bike for next season.
Guevara could offer Yamaha valuable information if given a test rider role as part of any deal to join Pramac’s MotoGP team, given that he currently races on Pirelli tyres in Moto2. Pirelli will replace Michelin as MotoGP’s sole tyre provider next year, and Razgatlioglu is currently Yamaha’s only rider with any real experience on Pirellis from his years in World Superbikes.
