Many within MotoGP expected Marquez to return this weekend, despite his severe injury issues after his crash at the French Grand Prix.
While Marquez must clear a physical to return at Mugello, the expectation is that the Spanish rider will be on board the Ducati in time for the Italian Grand Prix.

As he returns to the Italian Grand Prix, there is a belief that Marc Marquez is looking to return and insert himself in the championship battle.
Even though he is really far behind in the standings, Pedro Acosta believes Marquez’s absence would have hurt the prestige of the championship.

Pedro Acosta suggests Marc Marquez’s return makes MotoGP championship mean more
Speaking in an interview with Diario AS, Pedro Acosta was asked about the return of Marc Marquez and what that does for all the championship contenders.
He admitted that as much as Marquez wants to be champion, the championship race needs Marquez because he is one of the all-time greats, and beating him will mean a lot more.
“Look, we don’t know how he’ll be back. It seemed like it was just a matter of removing a screw, right? I’m glad he’s here because Marc needs the championship.
“We all need him a little. He’s the reigning champion, so we all need him. In the end, I suppose those fighting for the championship never like winning a championship without Marc. That feels a bit lacking. We all need him a little.”
With Marquez back in the field, even if he isn’t at the top of the championship standings, the championship race certainly has a lot more star power.

There is no way he would have jeopardised his own health and recovery if Marquez didn’t believe he could win the title this season.
In attempting to do so, Marquez is attempting to emulate Wayne Rainey and his incredible accomplishment of overcoming an injury to win the championship in 1992.
Even with all the fan concern over Marquez’s return, no one can deny that the Italian Grand Prix will be a more exciting race with him involved.
No matter how he performs, Marc Marquez will play a factor over the weekend, and be one of the key talking points coming out of the race.
