Marco Bezzecchi is about to become a worldwide ‘sensation’ as his MotoGP winning streak continues, Johann Zarco has predicted. Bezzecchi has won the last five races, emerging as a serious contender for the title.
Bezzecchi is only the third rider in the MotoGP era to win five consecutive Grands Prix after Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi. He has also surpassed Jorge Lorenzo’s record by leading 121 straight laps.
The Aprilia rider leads his teammate Jorge Martin by four points after the first three rounds. Had he not made unforced errors in the Thailand and United States Sprints, his advantage would have been considerably larger.
When will be the first race that Marc Marquez beats Marco Bezzecchi?

Johann Zarco tells Marco Bezzecchi he’s about to be world famous
At a promotional event for next month’s French GP, LCR rider Zarco was asked about Bezzecchi’s form. He has predicted that the Italian will become known ‘worldwide’.
Bezzecchi currently has 840k followers on Instagram, which means he’s still behind Jack Miller, Alex Rins, Martin, the Marquez brothers, Maverick Vinales, Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez.
But he is now part of an Italian wave in motorsport, with Nicolo Bulega leading the World Superbikes standings and Kimi Antonelli on top in Formula 1.
It may be that he surpasses Bagnaia and becomes the foremost Italian talent in motorcycle racing.
Zarco said, via Paddock GP: “Bezzecchi is going to become well-known to the general public because what he’s doing is so exceptional that he could become an Italian leader, a successor to Valentino Rossi, like Pecco Bagnaia perhaps was to some extent.
“We’ll see how long it lasts, but his name is going to quickly become a sensation, at least worldwide.”
The Marco Bezzecchi vs Pecco Bagnaia debate is about to be settled
Bezzecchi is a late bloomer in MotoGP terms. At 27, some may say he’s approaching his prime, but few anticipated such a large and sudden leap at Aprilia.
Indeed, he has tripled his premier-class win total since he joined the Noale outfit (from three to nine) and has also more than doubled his podium haul (nine to 21).
Martin, who arrived at Aprilia with a higher billing after winning the 2024 title, will be a growing threat as the year goes on. He is bound to gain fitness and confidence, barring any further setbacks.
In 2027, Bezzecchi will partner Bagnaia in a new, equally exciting match-up at Aprilia. The struggling Ducati rider will have a chance to reassert himself as Italy’s number one.
