Marc Marquez finished off the podium at the Brazilian Grand Prix as Aprilia grabbed a historic 1-2 finish.

After failing to finish the Thailand GP thanks to a rear rim failure with five laps to go, the Ant of Cervera was looking to get back to winning ways in Goiania. He would get back on the top step in the Sprint, beating Fabio Di Giannantonio after a tense battle.

But his wait for a Grand Prix podium in 2026 continues as he had to settle for fourth at the Brazilian GP. Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi dominated the race to grab his fourth win in a row, with teammate Jorge Martin close behind for a 1-2 finish.

Marquez finished four seconds behind Bezzecchi as he fell back towards the end of the season. The track degradation, which resulted in organisers shortening the race to 23 laps, was kicking up stones into the riders, almost causing the Ducati rider to crash.

Neil Hodgson has never seen Marc Marquez come across so ‘grumpy’ after Brazilian Grand Prix

The Spaniard was not too pleased after the race, with Ducati’s rivals again proving that they are closing the gap. Marquez admitted that Aprilia have the extra ‘point’ that the Borgo Panigale outfit had in 2025.

After listening to his post-race interview on TNT Sports 2 (22/3, 7:37 pm), pundit Neil Hodgson had never seen Marquez so ‘annoyed’ and ‘grumpy’ as Ducati slumped to another defeat to Aprilia.

“I’ve got to say, I loved those last two interviews,” he said. “That’s as grumpy as Marc’s come across in an interview. Davide comes across as grumpy on a regular basis, he can do. He wouldn’t be a good poker player, you know what Davide’s thinking.

“Marc on the other hand, that was Marc fully annoyed and grumpy, so I quite enjoyed that. I don’t mean as in he seemed grumpy, but he rarely shows that side of his emotion, but he’s proper annoyed.”

Marc Marquez sits fifth in the championship after two races in 2026

After two races in the 2026 season, Marquez sits P5 in the standings with 34 points. He is yet to grab a Grand Prix podium or a pole position.

It is early days, yet it is clear that Aprilia are establishing some dominance in MotoGP over Ducati this year. Bezzecchi leads the championship with Martin 11 points behind.

Marco Bezzecchi on top after two rounds 👀 Will he still be at the top by the end of the season, though? 🤔

Pedro Acosta, who was top of the standings after Buriram, is now third, with Di Giannantonio in fourth after grabbing a double podium in Goiania.

Marquez does have some work to do to get back on top. Bezzecchi and Martin have proven that Aprilia will be tough competitors in 2026 and will not let Ducati walk away with the title as easily as they did in 2025.
