Pedro Acosta wants out of KTM, and he has just addressed the main concern that Ducati have regarding a potential partnership with Marc Marquez at the factory outfit in the future.

The 21-year-old has backed up his impressive maiden season in the sport last season with another fine season in 2025, despite KTM’s RC16 seemingly regressing in performance.

Acosta has been on the radar of Ducati since his title feats in Moto2 and Moto3, and given the fact the Italian constructor currently have the most dominant bike on the grid, Borgo Panigale seems like the natural step up for him.

However, Ducati are concerned about potential animosity between Acosta and Marquez that may be present if the two determined riders share a garage together. Both riders put their ambitions above all, and sparks could fly during the intense title fights that may follow.

Pedro Acosta outlines that racing alongside Marc Marquez at Ducati ‘wouldn’t hurt anyone’

Acosta is confident in his ability to beat Marquez, despite the fact that none of the 32-year-old’s teammates have ever been able to best the Spaniard over the course of a full season’s worth of racing.

In an interview with Motorpasion Moto, the KTM factory rider was asked whether he would mind sharing a garage with Marquez, to which he simply replied, “No.”

Asked if he would enjoy the challenge, Acosta elaborated further, saying, “In the end, it’s like sharing a garage with Valentino Rossi back in the day.

“What Marc Marquez has done this season is the greatest feat ever seen in the history of the sport. Having a nine-time world champion on the other side of the garage certainly wouldn’t hurt anyone.

“So far, I haven’t won a race; I can’t say much more about it. I think Marc has now shown his level, both with the Honda, and he’s now the best rider on the grid with the best bike.

“Marc is in the best moment of his career, or the second-best moment of his career.”

Pedro Acosta tips the 2027 MotoGP season to be ‘one of the best’ in the history of MotoGP

Acosta’s KTM contract will keep him at the Austrian constructor until the end of the 2026 season, and he already has one eye on what he can achieve during MotoGP’s new era of regulations in 2027.

Asked if riding for Ducati is the goal for that season, Acosta replied, “The truth is, my focus is on finishing the year strong. I’m still aiming for a top-five finish overall.

“I’m already thinking about 2026; I don’t see it as a lost cause, and I believe next year is a great opportunity for us. 2027 will come, and if we continue to have great races like we are, doors will open for the future.”

He was then prompted on how excited he is for the upcoming regulation reset, to which Acosta answered, “The fact that they’re removing the rear device is going to help a lot. The rider’s feel will be more important.

“It’s going to be like a new category, with new bikes and new tyres. It could be one of the best years in MotoGP history, and anyone could win races. Similar to Rossi’s year with Camel Yamaha, or Pedrosa and Hayden with Honda.”
