Ducati’s MotoGP line-up could be looking very different come the 2027 season as several riders could be set to move among their teams.

But Alex Marquez could be set to stay put. The 29-year-old is entering his fourth season with Gresini, and he is coming off his best MotoGP season to date.

With three wins, his first in the premier class, and 12 podiums, Marquez finished second behind his brother Marc in 2025. Now with a factory Ducati bike, Alex could be in with a shout of the championship.

Many may think that a factory bike would put him in the conversation for a seat at Bologna Bullets, especially with Francesco Bagnaia struggling. However, Marquez is not focused on joining Ducati as he is enjoying his time at Gresini.

The satellite team have given him the tools and support to revive his career after a torrid time at Honda. As the MotoGP rider market starts to take effect for 2027, it looks like Marquez will remain at Gresini.

Fabio Di Giannantonio could return to Gresini as VR46 eye Fermin Aldeguer in 2027

A report from MotoMatters states that Marquez is likely to stay at Gresini in 2027, but with ‘full factory support and a hefty salary rise’. The question then turns to his teammate.

Fermin Aldeguer had a strong rookie season in 2025, winning his maiden race in Indonesia. He is targeting a factory bike and seat at Ducati, but he is also attracting attention from VR46.

VR46 will drop Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli at the end of the 2026 season, with the latter likely to end up in World Superbikes. Valentino Rossi is targeting a move for KTM star Pedro Acosta.

However, Acosta is also being linked with a factory Ducati seat. If this is true, Aldeguer is VR46’s ‘Plan B’ for 2027, with Moto2 rider David Alonso also being under consideration.

If Aldeguer moves Ducati teams, he could do a straight swap with Di Giannantonio. According to the report, the Italian could end up back at Gresini alongside Marquez in 2027.

Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio might have a tense relationship

Diggia was handed his MotoGP debut by Gresini in 2022. The following year, partnering with Marquez, he won his first and only race in the premier class in Qatar, before joining VR46 in 2024.

A return to the team in 2027 could be on the cards, but the pair have had their drama in the past. Marquez collided with Diggia in Qatar in 2025, and the former was not very forgiving after the race.

“An eventful race. My start was really good, I was there fighting for the top, because today I had the pace to make a podium,” said Di Giannantonio via Crash.

“Then a strange manoeuvre by Alex. A dangerous manoeuvre by Alex. It’s a pity because I think that a mistake like this is not great in our level of riders in this championship. It’s a bit on the limit, especially for the penalty that we receive in case of [making] these mistakes.

“I think that we have to work for the future because at the end, the rider that’s completely destroyed my race finished in 7th [6th after Maverick Vinales’ penalty] and I lost any chance of doing a good race.”
