Marc Marquez has just proven why KTM needs to replace Brad Binder for the 2027 MotoGP season

KTM have struggled to develop their MotoGP program over the last few seasons, and as a result, are still sat on just five premier class victories.

Pedro Acosta was meant to be their ray of hope, but despite some heroic performances, even he couldn’t drag them to the top step in 2025.

As well as that, Brad Binder has suffered a negative turnaround, and cannot seem to find the same level of pace or consistency that he once could.

2026 represents one last chance for KTM to achieve something before a new set of rules arrives next year. Unless they start winning big, it’s likely that they will lose their superstar rider, too.

Binder wishes KTM would improve their bike and how it feels under acceleration, which has given him plenty of problems recently.

Binder has ‘never been a great qualifier’, but it’s not something he wants to hide from. He knows his weaknesses, but it’s hard to really see what he can do about it later on in his career.

Marc Marquez’s Brad Binder snub shows why KTM must replace him for 2027

Marc Marquez has received a ‘strong’ offer from KTM as they step up their efforts to try and have one of the best line-ups on the grid. It’s unlikely that the Spaniard will even consider their offer, though.

Binder should worry about Daniel Holgado taking his seat in 2027, as he’s backed by KTM test rider Pol Espargaro.

Addressing the 2026 campaign in the latest MotoGP documentary – All on Red, Marquez snubbed Binder when discussing how potent KTM can be over the next 12 months.

Instead, he focused on Acosta. That says everything you need to know about the threat level he carries, and shows why replacing him might be the best option going forward.

“It will be an interesting 2026 season. Aprilia has been growing a lot. KTM with Acosta [not Binder],” he said.

“Honda are getting closer and closer, they made a massive step. Yamaha are struggling a little bit more, but it’s Yamaha.”

Why did Brad Binder have such a difficult 2025 MotoGP season?

Heading into 2026, Binder thinks KTM have fixed a problem he faced with the front end of his bike, which took away from his confidence.

That was a big reason why he was slower than his teammate in every single qualifying session last year. It was one of the bigger surprises of the season.

Binder could be entering his ‘last season in MotoGP’, depending on the changes he has made this winter, and whether they prove to be effective.

2025 was defined by a lack of speed, which he couldn’t extract no matter what he tried. Binder thinks he’ll be in a ‘different world’ now, and he may well have to be to save his career.
