Marc Marquez has now received a ‘strong’ offer from MotoGP team who have never won the title

Marc Marquez appeared to be choosing between two options for the 2027 MotoGP season – stay with the Ducati squad who helped him win the title, or make a fairytale return to Honda. But a third team is said to have entered the race.

On the face of it, there’s little reason to leave Ducati. Desmosedici riders have won the last four world championships, and Marquez’s 2025 triumph was one of the most dominant in MotoGP history.

But Marquez will make a 2027 decision on instinct, rather than going solely on historical results. The technical regulations are being overhauled, which has the potential to reshape the pecking order.

It’s a critical opportunity for a sleeping giant like Honda, who have more resources than any of their competitors. Their progress last year suggests that they are on the path to becoming contenders again.

KTM have made an offer to Marc Marquez for 2027

According to Corriere Romagna, KTM have now ‘officially’ entered the race to sign Marquez. They have made clear that they are a serious suitor by presenting a ‘strong’ offer.

The seven-time premier-class champion now has firm proposals on the table from Ducati, Honda and KTM.

KTM have never won a MotoGP title, but signing a rider of Marquez’s calibre could be their biggest step yet towards that objective.

It will clearly be difficult for Pit Beirer and co. to lure the 32-year-old. KTM’s victory drought stretches back to the end of the 2022 season, but they could perhaps catch Marquez’s eye if they end it in early 2026.

This time last year, there were serious doubts about KTM’s MotoGP future. A takeover from Bajaj saved the company from the brink.

Signing Marquez would represent emphatic confirmation that they are committed to the sport long term. He may be one of the oldest riders on the grid, but it would require an eight-figure outlay.

It’s worth remembering that KTM wanted Marquez at a second satellite team following his 2023 Honda exit. They planned to expand their roster to six bikes and place him alongside promising youngster Pedro Acosta.

But Dorna blocked the expansion and Marquez joined Gresini instead. While KTM’s latest attempt is also likely to be unsuccessful, it is at least clear that they are targeting A-list riders amid uncertainty over Acosta’s future.
