Honda are poised to make some statement offers as MotoGP’s silly season promises to explode into life.

Ever since Marc Marquez left at the end of 2023, they haven’t had a superstar rider on their books. It was justified, amid their bike’s terrible performance.

But now that they’re starting to climb again, it might be time for them to attract the sort of talent that can lead them to the very top again. It’s time for Honda to make a big signing.

With MotoGP’s new regulations dawning, they’ll want to head into the new era in the strongest position possible. Their current rider line-up will do for now, but it feels as though change is coming.

Who should Honda sign for the 2027 MotoGP season?

Do you think it should be someone other than the riders in this list? Let us know in the comments below!

Honda are ‘keen’ on three riders for 2027, but nobody quite knows in which order they would prefer to sign them in.

Ducati will ‘never’ have the money Honda has, which is an advantage in negotiations, but they do have the faster bike right now.

MotoGP insiders think Honda are willing to make Fabio Quartararo and Pedro Acosta 2027 offers

Marc Marquez is ‘attracted’ to Honda, but a move for 2027 feels unlikely, and as though it comes too soon after his departure.

It rules them out from signing the premier target on the market, and also all but confirms that he will remain at Ducati.

So, who are the other big riders on the market that could be available, should Honda want to make a statement?

KTM’s Pedro Acosta and Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo are the two most obvious candidates who haven’t had bikes capable of winning, despite deserving them over the last few seasons.

According to David Emmett via MotoMatters, there are suggestions in the paddock that Honda could be ready to table a big offer to either of the two riders.

It’s ‘almost impossible’ that Acosta will go to Ducati, while Quartararo extending his current stay with the slowest bike on the grid doesn’t feel likely either. Could they end up being teammates?

What signs have Honda shown that they’re improving their MotoGP bike?

Moving into Tier C of MotoGP’s concessions at the last race of the 2025 season was a significant step in Honda’s journey.

It reminded them that all of the hard work they have put in over the last few years has been for something.

Luca Marini has been a very consistent and dependable rider for them, while Joan Mir has struggled to stay on his bike at times.

But the latter did secure two podiums for them in 2025, helping to bring a lot of joy back to the team. It’s likely that neither will be around beyond the end of this year, but they have been vital cogs in helping Honda to return to the midfield.
