Honda have teased the soundtrack of their new 850cc engine that has been built in line with the 2027 MotoGP regulatory overhaul, and fans have had their say on the new power unit.

Change is on its way in the premier class of Grand Prix motorcycle racing, and Honda are the latest team to share a teaser video of what 2027 will sound like from the Japanese constructor.

KTM were the first MotoGP constructor to tease their new engine for 2027 after they dropped a short video following Pol Espargaro’s test in Spain at the beginning of the month.

The teaser video from Honda also comes after they recently dropped a snippet of what their new F1 engine sounds like.

The separate two-wheeled and four-wheeled departments are currently hard at work putting the finishing touches on their new power units that will hopefully bring some silverware back to the Asaka-based team in the future.

Where will Honda finish in the 2027 MotoGP constructors’ championship?

Will they emerge as frontrunners? Or will their best days still be behind them? Comment below!

Fans react to Honda’s new ‘beast’ of an engine for the 2027 MotoGP ruleset

After the Japanese constructor dropped a sneak preview of the new sound that will accompany their prototypes in 2027, fans were quick to express their opinion of it.

The overwhelming sentiment was one of excitement. After several years of languishing in the bottom half of the constructors’ standings, those loyal to the Asaka-based outfit are hoping that the new roar bodes well for their title chances.

One user on Reddit welcomes the smaller engine size in favour of the more disgruntled sound of the engine, commenting, “If nothing else, judging from the KTM and this Honda, MotoGP is going to sound better.”

Another user of the social media platform shared their awe of the sound, writing, “It’s so beautiful.” Their sentiments were echoed in the same thread, with another fan posting, “It sounds evil in a good way.”

Users on X (formerly Twitter) also shared their excitement for the new period of technical regulations, with one fan posting, “This era of Honda is already sounding serious.”

Whilst the sound of an engine doesn’t win championships, it may have won over some new fans for the Japanese constructor.

Another X user commented, “Music to my ears,” whilst another wrote, “That sounds like a beast!”

The new MotoGP regulations may be coming at the wrong time for Honda

Despite being only the second team to tease their new engine, the regulatory overhaul may be taking effect at the wrong time for Honda.

2025 saw them achieve their best position in the constructors’ standings since Marc Marquez’s last season at the factory team, which saw him win a Grand Prix.

Granted, it was a fourth-place out of just five constructors, but Honda also managed to secure enough points to move up a rank in MotoGP concessions.

Whilst the move up in concessions will hinder Honda’s progress much more than it will help them, it is a step in the right direction for them. It means that they are on the right path to potentially competing for race wins on merit in the future.

However, the new era of regulations will see the grid get completely reset. Whatever progress was made in the years leading up to them will be scrapped, and the bikes will be of stark contrast to their predecessors.
