Pedro Acosta is set to be one of the big movers on the MotoGP rider market in 2026, as he eyes a Ducati seat in 2027.
The KTM star is not looking to waste time in MotoGP. He wants to be a world champion, and at present, the Austrian manufacturer do not have the resources to give him a winning bike.
Finish the sentence: In 2027, Pedro Acosta will ride for…
‘Everyone’ at KTM is preparing to lose Acosta when his contract expires in 2026. The Spaniard wants to ride a Ducati, given their dominance in the premier class in recent years.
The Borgo Panigale outfit have been linked with the 21-year-old for some time, and he is determined to race in the factory red. Marco Melandri thinks Acosta is Ducati’s best option to replace Francesco Bagnaia, who is under pressure to keep his seat.

Pedro Acosta told it’s ‘almost impossible’ that Ducati have promised him a factory seat in 2027
Reports have suggested that Acosta has already ‘signed’ his 2027 contract, but the exact details of said deal and what team he has signed for are unknown. It is believed that Ducati are his destination.
A report from MOW has revealed fresh details about the saga, as there was ‘a lot of talk among colleagues’ about the rumours linking Acosta to Ducati at a recent event, celebrating their accolades in 2025.
According to the report, it is ‘almost impossible’ that Acosta has been ‘promised a place on the factory team’. Marc Marquez is negotiating a new contract, while it would seem that Bagnaia will be given time to recover his form in 2026.
It is also ‘unlikely that he’s already signed’ a contract, but what is possible is that he has signed a ‘preliminary contract’ with Ducati. This is pretty common for the Borgo Panigale outfit, with satellite riders Fermin Aldeguer and Fabio Di Giannantonio having direct contracts with Ducati.

VR46 are pursuing Pedro Acosta for 2027
If such a deal has been agreed upon, it would give Ducati the freedom to place Acosta in any of their teams for 2027. Gresini and VR46 would have seats available, and the latter have not been quiet about their admiration for the KTM rider.
VR46 tried to sign Acosta in 2025 as the Spaniard looked to break his contract. However, KTM shut down the deal after placing an extortionate price tag on him, and Dorna’s intervention further prevented any agreement.
However, with his contract expiring in 2026, Valentino Rossi and his team are not giving up on Acosta as they look to bring him on board in 2027.
Uccio Salucci says VR46 will do ‘everything’ to sign Acosta. That could well have been agreed already if the Spaniard has signed a contract with Ducati.
