Marc Marquez’s dominance in MotoGP in 2025 was like nothing anyone expected, and as it turns out, many got tired of seeing it.
The Spaniard moved to the Ducati factory team as he looked to win the championship again after his injury struggles. Most riders backed Marquez to win the title, and they would be proved right.
Marc Marquez won 69.44% of races he finished in 2025. What should MotoGP do to make racing more unpredictable?
Riding the GP25, Marquez won 25 races across the season, with 11 Grands Prix and 14 Sprint victories. He missed the final four rounds due to a shoulder injury in a crash in Indonesia, but the championship was already wrapped up.
He sealed the deal at Motegi, a record five rounds before the end of the season. Marquez proved almost unbeatable in 2025, winning 15 races in a row between Aragon and Barcelona.

Jorge Lorenzo’s father admits he got ‘bored’ watching Marc Marquez’s dominance in 2025
Many had expected Marquez to face competition in 2025, notably from his teammate, Francesco Bagnaia. However, the season was mostly a procession, as the Ant of Cervera won the title over his brother, Alex Marquez, by 78 points.
The margin would certainly have been higher had he not been injured at Mandalika. His dominance, while incredibly impressive, left many people growing tired.
Kevin Schwantz said Marquez makes MotoGP ‘boring’ with how easily he controls races. Jorge Lorenzo’s father, Chicho Lorenzo, shares a similar opinion via Mundo Deportivo.
However, he can appreciate Marquez’s influence in the sport: “I got bored with his dominance in some races, but I missed him when he couldn’t continue racing,” he said.
“Marc Márquez’s influence in this sport, as of today, is indisputable; everything revolves around him. Even his rivals are happy that Marc has won again with such superiority.”

Can anyone stop Marc Marquez in 2026?
Marquez is the rider to beat in 2026 and will certainly be the favourite for the title. Ducati remain the dominant force in MotoGP, and the 32-year-old looked almost unstoppable on their bike.
However, their gap at the front is closing, mainly due to Marquez’s injury. Aprilia made serious progress in his absence and are looking to take the fight to Ducati in 2026.
Marquez will have a new rival in 2026 in Marco Bezzecchi, who proved to be the top rider on the track during his injury. Aprilia boss Massimo Rivola believes Bezzecchi can fight Marquez for the title next season.
There is also the question of those within Ducati, with Alex Marquez now on a factory bike. Bagnaia could also pose a threat if the GP26 solves his problems, but when Marc Marquez is fully fit, he has proven himself to be the toughest to beat in MotoGP.
