Jack Miller must now emulate the ‘reset’ that inspired his epic 2021 MotoGP comeback

Jack Miller has been through some tough times in his MotoGP career, but has continued to push on and has been rewarded for 2026.

The Aussie will be on the grid for a 12th consecutive season thanks to Pramac and Yamaha, who have shown a lot of faith in his abilities.

Miller can still play a major role in the direction his team takes over the next few seasons, as well as how much success they end up having.

If he plays his cards right, he won’t end up having to worry about the MotoGP rider market very much, but he has to perform better.

Miller already has competition for 2027 that will keep him on his toes. Now it’s about whether he manages to rise to the occasion.

After a tough 2025 campaign, Miller ‘dramatically’ changed Yamaha’s setups and will be hoping that continues to pay dividends as they work with a new engine in the future.

Jack Miller needs the same ‘reset’ that inspired 2021 Ducati comeback

During the 2021 season with Ducati, Miller felt as though he had a shot at winning a maiden title. Although that proved a few steps too far, he did turn his season around after Austria.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, he mentioned the need for a ‘reset’ after a messy round in Spielberg. He won on to finish six of the last seven races in the top seven, and it’s something he could use for 2026.

“I’ll just hit the reset button,” he said. “Easier said than done, but I feel I’m in a good position, I feel fit and strong and should be able [to] have a decent week.”

Miller has gained feedback and stability with Yamaha’s switch to the new V4 engine. Despite the regulations changing for 2027, it should have its benefits over the next few months.

Fabio Quartararo hasn’t been too complimentary of it, but he hasn’t had a bike worthy of his talent for some time. There’s an element of frustration to his views.

Did Yamaha make the right decision in retaining Jack Miller for 2026?

Although Miller brings a lot of experience and knowledge to their V4 engine, there was a lot to be desired about his performance in 2025.

He threw away a victory at Le Mans, and on a few other occasions, he ended up having silly incidents that ended up costing him better points.

He can’t afford to be as lacklustre as one of their leaders in 2026. It’s up to him to show rookie teammate Toprak Razgatlioglu how it’s done.

That’s just another one of his new responsibilities now that Pramac are relying on him to help turn a team around that just finished bottom of the teams’ standings.
