Speculation is already rife about a potential return to Honda for Marc Marquez in the 2027 MotoGP season.
The seventh-time premier class champion is out of contract at Ducati in 2026. Marquez has kept relatively quiet about his future in MotoGP, but the Borgo Panigale outfit will no doubt be keen to retain him.
However, it is understood that Marquez wants a pay rise from Ducati for his achievements in 2025. He won 25 races, 11 Grand Prix and 14 Sprints, as he grabbed his ninth Grand Prix title.
Marc Marquez on his Ducati future
The 2027 regulations throw everything in the air in the premier class, with the pecking order set to change. It also creates chaos in the MotoGP rider market, with several talents out of contract at the end of next year.
Marquez could find himself at the centre of it all, and rumours are already hyping up a possible return to Honda. Ducati have also been warned that they could suffer another damaging blow.

Carlo Pernat warns Ducati that Marc Marquez could take Luigi Dall’Igna with him to Honda in 2027
Honda have ‘already spoken’ to Marquez ahead of 2027, according to Carlo Pernat. The Japanese giants are looking to make a huge move next season, with Pedro Acosta also a target.
Pernat reckons Honda will offer Marquez a ‘small country’s budget’ to bring him back to the manufacturer in 2027. Speaking on the #ZamTube YouTube channel, he claims that the 32-year-old could take Luigi Dall’Igna with him from Ducati.
“Then we need to understand, guys, that Honda absolutely needs a winning rider. The only team that has worked well, by the way, but doesn’t have a winning rider,” he said.
Which bike should Marc Marquez ride in 2027?
“Everyone has a top rider, from KTM, in Yamaha, Ducati, only Honda is missing one, not to disparage Zarco, or Marini or Mir, but they don’t have the winning rider.
“In my opinion, the second to move or attempt to move will be Marc Marquez. Honda, it’s clear that the siren will sound for him, but in my opinion, the siren won’t only sound for Mark Marquez, it also sounds for Gigi Dall’Igna.
“And I wouldn’t be surprised if 2026 also rotated to the duo, Marquez and Dall’Igna together, understood? So I’ll just throw that out there.”

Luigi Dall’Igna was previously linked with Honda in 2023
Rumours about Dall’Igna heading to Honda are nothing new in MotoGP. The Ducati chief was linked with the Japanese giants back in 2023, the year Marquez decided to jump ship to Borgo Panigale.
The Italian turned the offer down and stayed at Ducati and went on to win the 2024 and 2025 titles. Asked by Sky Italia if Marquez would have stayed at Honda if he joined, Dall’Igna replied: “We should ask him this, I guess so. But it’s a question to ask Marc. Only he can answer.”
He then added: “We have and I have made a lot of effort in recent years. Now that we are reaping the benefits, it seemed bad and stupid to leave.
“I have a fantastic group, both from a technical and rider point of view. I want to win again, I don’t like finishing second, it makes me feel physically ill. Ducati is the best place to be right now.”
