When it comes to naming a dream MotoGP line-up, Marc Marquez is almost certainly mentioned, and it is hardly surprising.
The Ant of Cervera claimed his seventh premier class title and ninth overall championship in 2025, winning 11 Grands Prix and 14 Sprints with Ducati. Marquez is one title away from becoming the joint-most successful MotoGP rider in history, next to Giacomo Agostini.
Given his dominance in 2025, he will be the favourite for the 2026 crown once he returns from injury after his crash at Mandalika. Ducati will ‘force’ Marquez to decide on the GP26’s engine due to the team’s A rank in the concessions system.
Marquez has already named his ‘opponents’ for the 2026 season as he looks to defend his championship. With his performances and his legendary status in MotoGP, it is no surprise that Jorge Lorenzo named him in his dream line-up.

Jorge Lorenzo would put Pedro Acosta next to Marc Marquez in his dream MotoGP team
When asked to assemble his dream MotoGP team by MOW, the Spaniard said he would choose Marquez ‘with his eyes closed’. For the other side of the garage, Lorenzo would have fellow compatriot Pedro Acosta next to the 32-year-old.
Talking about his dream line-up, he said: “Marc Marquez, even though he’s 33 and age doesn’t forgive anyone, not even if your name is Messi, Maradona, or Michael Jordan.
“Age doesn’t forgive, and surely a young player will come along in the future to beat him, that’s life. I’d choose Marquez with my eyes closed. And Pedro Acosta.”
The KTM rider has established himself as a serious talent in MotoGP, finishing P4 in the standings in only his second season. With a maiden win since eluding him, Acosta has been linked with Ducati satellite team VR46 as he considers his future for 2027.
The 21-year-old is keen to ride a Ducati bike and go up against the Ant of Cervera on equal machinery. Acosta would not mind being Marquez’s teammate, which makes Lorenzo’s dream team all the more impressive.

Jorge Lorenzo would also choose Luigi Dall’Igna and Honda bikes for his ‘winning project’
When asked the same question by GPOne, Lorenzo went into more detail about his MotoGP team. He would have Luigi Dall’Igna as the designer, and he would run with Honda bikes.
“To win immediately, next year, I’d take Ducati, Marquez and Acosta. If we’re talking about a three or four-year project, I’d take Honda, Dall’Igna, Acosta and Marquez. That would be the winning project,” he said.
Dall’Igna has been the mastermind behind Ducati’s success in the premier class. His technical expertise and design of the bikes have seen the Borgo Panigale outfit win the last six constructors’ championships.
Honda achieved C ranking in the concessions systems in 2025 as they look to build back to the front of the grid. The Japanese giants are making strong progress with the RC213V and have an exciting project for 2026 and the new regulations in 2027.
