Pedro Acosta has confided his thoughts on potentially sharing a garage with Marc Marquez at the factory Ducati outfit amid Borgo Panigale’s interest in the 21-year-old.

The Murcian native has been in fine form during his sophomore season in the premier class of motorcycle racing and has often overachieved in the results he has recorded atop sub-optimal KTM machinery.

Acosta sits fifth in the riders’ standings currently, and is the only rider from within the stable of the Austrian constructor who has breached into the top 10 during the current campaign.

With Ducati currently serving as the dominant constructor for a number of years now, Acosta was linked with a move to satellite outfit VR46 earlier in the current term.

Pedro Acosta has told members of his camp that he wouldn’t mind ‘sharing a box’ with Marc Marquez in MotoGP

A recent report by Paddock GP has detailed the current sentiment regarding a move to Borgo Panigale for the eight-time premier class podium sitter.

Ducati have reportedly asked the Spaniard to contact them before he puts pen to paper on a separate agreement which would see him race for one of their rivals in 2027.

Honda are another candidate for Acosta’s signature, and have been linked with bringing him to their factory team throughout his impressive season thus far.

However, Acosta ‘would prefer’ to join the Italian constructor over their Japanese rivals, and has shared his feelings about potentially partnering up with the 2025 title-winner Marquez.

He reportedly told a member of his team, “I don’t mind sharing the box with Marc,” which highlights just how confident he is about his own abilities.

Acosta previously shared a verdict on his chances against Marquez, stating that he feels like he could achieve the difficult feat of beating the seven-time MotoGP champion in a season-long battle on equal machinery.

However, the report also states that Acosta may just be a ‘plan B’ for Ducati, behind Marquez.

Ducati ‘will only act’ if the 32-year-old proves to do one of three things: retire from MotoGP, demand too much from the Italian constructor, or opt to explore racing opportunities at a different brand on the grid.

Pedro Acosta’s impressive performances in the 2025 MotoGP season have highlighted Brad Binder’s woes at KTM

Brad Binder has struggled quite significantly to replicate the results of his younger and higher-flying teammate at the KTM Factory Racing team during the current term.

104 points split the two riders, with Binder currently languishing in 12th place of the riders’ championship.

If the South African ends the season in the spot he currently occupies, it would mark his worst finishing position in the MotoGP standings since joining the premier class in 2020.

Binder has stated that KTM’s experiments have hurt him throughout his efforts in 2025, highlighting how Acosta has managed to find more consistency on the RC16 despite the apparent regression that the team have experienced with the current bike from last year’s iteration.

This consistency is what Binder has identified as an area he needs to improve if he wants to keep his premier class dreams alive.
