Alex Rins just gave Toprak Razgatlioglu hope that he can challenge Fabio Quartararo in 2026

Toprak Razgatlioglu faces a tricky task to live up to the hype of his talents on MotoGP’s slowest bike (recently) in 2026.

Things could change over the winter, but Yamaha have a lot of work to do to prove that they can compete for victories again in the near future.

If they can’t do it, then superstar rider Fabio Quartararo will be obliged to leave in pursuit of better machinery, hurting the manufacturer’s potency.

For someone like Razgatlioglu, they would be big boots to fill in his second year (presuming it happens for 2027), and it may depend a lot on any momentum he can build over the next 12 months.

Jack Miller feels ‘sorry’ for Razgatlioglu after having to wait quite some time before getting on track with his new bike.

Jorge Lorenzo issued a ‘strange’ reaction to the V4 and is surprised that they’re pushing forward with their plans to run it so soon, given their knowledge with the inline-four.

Alex Rins’ indication that V4 requires a new ‘riding style’ is hope for Toprak Razgatlioglu

Ahead of his first official go on the V4, Miller wants to see more horsepower as Yamaha’s journey towards the start of the 2026 campaign continues.

Quartararo has warned he will leave Yamaha soon, and the pressure of the situation must be ramping up on his team. They’re approaching now-or-never territory.

Yamaha want the first half of 2026 for ‘development’, but it’s unlikely that Quartararo will give them that long. The MotoGP rider market will have played out by then.

And now Razgatlioglu might have a stronger chance of beating Quartararo after a revelation by Alex Rins that Yamaha’s new bike requires a ‘different riding style’. It means that everyone is back to square one again.

“Yes, what he was talking about with Augusto and what he did tell me that he was going to enjoy,” Rins told DAZN. “This bike requires a totally different riding style.”

What is Toprak Razgatlioglu’s biggest challenge amid MotoGP switch?

Razgatlioglu has multiple factors to adjust to over the winter, including new colleagues, a new bike, and a new factory.

Above all, though, the new riding style will be his biggest challenge over the next few months. The Michelin tyres are a completely different animal from the Pirellis he’s familiar with.

That means that under braking, he’s not going to be able to be as aggressive until he is confident and comfortable that he can be quick without going over the edge.

Razgatlioglu knows where the V4 must ‘improve’, and it’ll be interesting to see how he approaches the development of it. He harbours ambitions of winning and will want to assist his team in doing so as soon as possible.
