Fermin Aldeguer is eyeing a factory Ducati seat in the future as he impresses with Gresini.
The Spaniard has been enjoying a brilliant debut season in MotoGP. Riding the GP24, he has collected six podiums in 2025 thus far, three in Sprint races and three on Sunday.
One of those podiums was Aldeguer’s maiden MotoGP victory at Mandalika. The 20-year-old has shown real quality and talent with Gresini, which earned him the Rookie of the Year award.
Sitting eighth in the standings with 186 points, he will be looking to go even better with Gresini in 2026. Beyond that, his contract puts him in a good position to land a factory Ducati seat.

Fermin Aldeguer is ‘100% sure’ Ducati will give him a seat if he performs well with Gresini
The Spaniard signed a 2+2 agreement with Ducati, which ties him down with Gresini until 2026. The Borgo Panigale outfit have the option to keep him on board until 2028, putting him in line for a factory seat.
Aldeguer’s contract was said to guarantee him a factory spec bike for 2026. However, teammate Alex Marquez will get the GP26 instead, riding the machine alongside factory riders Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia, and VR46’s Fabio Di Giannantonio.
The 20-year-old will look to have a strong season with Gresini next year, regardless of what bike he has. Speaking to Motorsport Espana, Aldeguer is ‘100% sure’ Ducati will sign him if they think he is ready.
“I have a factory contract with Ducati,” he said. “In my contract, if you have two good seasons, you have the opportunity to join the factory team. But it all depends on the results, on my potential. I’m 100% sure that if Ducati sees I’m ready, [they’ll give me a seat; otherwise], we’ll stay there [at Gresini].
“We talked about it, but we’re not talking about ‘maybe by this date, in 2027, you’ll be joining the official team.’ It’s just that they’re giving me peace of mind. So, maybe, if I get good results, this opportunity will come.”

Where is Fermin Aldeguer in the pecking order for a factory Ducati seat?
As Aldeguer points out, his chances of joining Ducati will depend on his results. But it will also depend on what the team want to do with their current line-up.
Marc Marquez is unlikely to be dropped by the Borgo Panigale outfit, but his teammate is facing pressure. Ducati have given Bagnaia a deadline to convince them that he can be trusted with a new contract.
The team are already looking at potential replacements, with Luigi Dall’Igna eyeing Aldeguer for 2027. Thanks to the departure of Jorge Martin to Aprilia in 2025, Aldeguer’s path to Ducati is much clearer than the 2024 champion’s, after Marc Marquez usurped him for a seat.
The Spaniard will need to keep the momentum up and produce more podiums and race wins to be within a shot of joining Ducati. The potential is clearly there, but Aldeguer cannot afford to slip up.
