What Marc Marquez said to Ducati mechanics in garage speech after winning the MotoGP championship

Marc Marquez has been on another level compared to his MotoGP competition during the 2025 season.

Already, he has smashed records, and with five races still to go, there’s even more he can achieve with Ducati before the end of the year. Top priority will now be getting ahead of the game for 2026, when he becomes MotoGP’s hunted for the first time in six years.

Not even Marquez imagined that his road to a seventh crown would be so uninterrupted, but it’s a welcome change for a man who has faced so much adversity. Now that his rivals have data and know his strengths, they can begin to fight back.

Marquez will never be as popular as Valentino Rossi, but he has raced in a fairly different era from his ex-rival. Even Luigi Dall’Igna won’t call Marquez the greatest ever, knowing that it’s so tricky to draw comparisons between different eras of competition.

Marc Marquez told his Ducati mechanics they were ‘perfect’ after winning MotoGP title

Marquez’s injuries have been an ‘advantage’ to him since riding for Ducati, forcing him to be more careful and calculated. He has found a bit more consistency and has managed to limit mistakes as the year progressed.

After enjoying such a successful time together, Luigi Dall’Igna is ‘savouring’ Marquez, aware that their dominance won’t last forever. Nobody quite knows what their rivals will bring to the track in 2026, but it could be enough to make their jobs a lot more difficult.

Looking back on the year after claiming his seventh title at the Japanese Grand Prix, Marquez gathered his mechanics in the garage to thank them for a ‘perfect’ season, as well as welcoming him into their environment so well.

“No meeting today,” he said. “Bravo, that’s how serious people do it. We’ll do it when I arrive in Indonesia. Thank you for this amazing year.

“I found a very nice family here. I loved it, you helped me feel comfortable from the first race. You’re part of this comeback. Yes, everything was in my hands, but everything around me was perfect winning the championship.”

Why Marc Marquez might be worried heading into the 2026 MotoGP season

Marquez sees Francesco Bagnaia’s progress ‘little by little’, which culminated in his teammate claiming a second victory of the season at Motegi.

For the first time this season, the Spaniard was beaten on an even playing field in a race to the flag, and it might worry him a little.

Bagnaia dominated the whole weekend, winning both the sprint and Grand Prix, as well as claiming pole position.

Bagnaia’s ‘inner circle’ believe in a 2026 title fight, and the more his confidence comes back, the more of a threat he’s going to be to Marquez. It could be the battle fans were promised nearly 12 months ago.
