Marc Marquez is two races away from securing his seventh MotoGP championship and has revealed whether he would give one of them to his younger brother, Alex Marquez, who is yet to claim a title in the premier class.

Alex is enjoying his best season in the premier class this year, notching his maiden win in the category at the Spanish Grand Prix in April and proving that he is one of the best riders on the grid atop the Ducati GP24.

Marc just needs to outscore Alex by three points at Motegi to clinch his ninth world title in Grand Prix motorcycle racing, with the Gresini rider currently 182 points behind in the riders’ championship.

With Alex now in his sixth season of MotoGP, Marc had already claimed five titles by the same point in his career, and the 32-year-old has revealed whether he would trade one of those titles for his brother to be a champion in the premier class.

Marc Marquez would love for Alex Marquez to win a MotoGP title, but wouldn’t give him one of his own

Speaking to Diario AS ahead of his first chance of clinching the 2025 title at the Japanese Grand Prix, Marc was asked if he thinks Alex is capable of winning a title on “his own merits” one day, to which he replied, “I would love for Alex to win one.

“I wouldn’t give it to him, but next year he’ll have a factory bike and will be the rival from the start. He’ll have a factory bike, and it looks like he’ll finish second in the championship this year.

“He still has to close it out, because there’s [Francesco] Bagnaia and [Marco] Bezzecchi, who’s coming. I’ll give it to him by competing. He’s proven it in other categories, and he’s proving it this year.

“I told the team in the first test, in Montmeló, when he got on the Ducati 24, which was a big change from the 23. I told them that Álex was going to do well, because he does it when he has the confidence.

“I’m more of a chameleon, and I adapt. I change my skin, my riding style, and I bring it out. When he has it, he has it, and if not, he brings it out by working.”

Ducati confirmed that Alex would be riding atop a factory bike next year as a reward for his impressive results for Gresini in the current campaign.

It will be the second time in the 29-year-old’s career that he will be receiving full factory support, after his rookie season in MotoGP alongside his brother at the factory Honda team.

Francesco Bagnaia hopes that another factory Ducati on the grid will aid his 2025 MotoGP struggles

Marc’s teammate at Ducati, Bagnaia, has struggled immensely in the current campaign with adapting to the 2025 factory spec GP25.

Whilst Marc has dominated on the bike, the Italian rider hasn’t managed to replicate the same results on the same machinery.

When the announcement that the Spaniard would join the Borgo Panigale-based outfit, many thought that the 2025 MotoGP season would produce a closely contested title fight between Bagnaia and Marc.

With Alex being rider number four to receive a GP26 next season, Bagnaia is hoping that the extra data will aid his woes at Ducati and help him to bounce back from the rut that he is currently experiencing.

It may be crucial in deciding whether the Italian continues his tenure at Ducati, the same team he won consecutive world titles with in 2022 and 2023.
