Marco Bezzecchi took his second pole position of the 2025 MotoGP season at the San Marino Grand Prix as Marc Marquez nears his seventh premier class title.
Marc Marquez will start from the second row of the grid in fourth place, behind Alex Marquez and Fabio Quartararo in second and third, respectively.
Alex Marquez poses the only potential risk to Marc securing the championship at the Japanese Grand Prix in the following round of the season.
After previously finishing on the podium in all of the previous five iterations of the San Marino Grand Prix, including consecutive wins in 2021 and 2022, Francesco Bagnaia will start from the third row on the grid in eighth.
Quartararo made it through from Q1 with a blistering lap that was nearly four tenths faster than Fermin Aldeguer, who also made it through to the top 12 shootout. Aldeguer will start from tenth.

What’s been said in the MotoGP paddock at the San Marino Grand Prix?
The biggest news to come out of the MotoGP paddock at Misano is Yamaha’s unveiling of their new V4-powered M1.
The bike has been entered by the team with wildcard rider Augusto Fernandez taking the reins in order to collect crucial data as Yamaha refines the bike ahead of its official entry in 2026.
Mat Oxley noticed something on the new Yamaha M1 that he has ‘never seen’ before on a prototype bike. The Japanese constructor will be hoping that their new trick can catapult them to the front of the grid and compete against Ducati’s dominant GP25.
In fact, eagle-eyed MotoGP fans noted the similarities between the M1 and Ducati’s GP25 following Yamaha’s unveiling. Considering the bike has won 25 of the 30 races held in the current campaign, it may prove to be fruitful for the team in the future.
As Marquez creeps closer to the 2025 title with the completion of every race weekend, the Spaniard fielded a number of questions regarding his seventh premier class title.
Marquez responded to claims about not wanting to clinch the title at Misano, the home turf of fierce rival Valentino Rossi, whilst Bagnaia opened up about an unlikely ally who has been helping him during his struggles with the factory-spec Ducati bike throughout the year.
