Alex Marquez was finally able to put a stop to Marc Marquez’s 15-race winning streak at the Catalan Grand Prix.
He led the majority of the race and looked unflustered by the efforts of the Ducati rider, who had no answer for his speed.
Marquez may lead the championship by 182 points, but any chance of him claiming the title at the next race in Misano is already over.
The chance to break another one of his own MotoGP records also slipped through his grasp today, but he could yet go on another run.
Alex and Marc were ‘unbeatable’ throughout the weekend in Catalunya, and showed why they occupy the top two spots in the standings.
Speaking after the race, Marc admitted he ‘gave up’ fighting Alex after he made a mistake at turn seven. He knew his chances were over with a handful of laps to go.

Marc Marquez left with ‘bittersweet’ feeling after Alex Marquez ends 15-race streak at the Catalan Grand Prix
Even after watching brother crash out during Saturday’s sprint, Marquez knew his biggest ‘weak point’ could come back to haunt him on Sunday.
He has always struggled around right-hand corners, and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has plenty of them, and long ones too.
Even though he was just three Grands Prix short of matching his own consecutive wins record, Marquez told Diario AS exactly how he felt about it after the race.
“Obviously. I said it yesterday, that it was a bittersweet victory. Because of the distance or the advantage we have in the championship, you have to enjoy these moments and share a first and second with your brother like we did in Aragón,” he said.
“But the other way around, where he won here. In Jerez, I was really angry about crashing and seeing him win the race and not being able to share it with him.
“You have to enjoy life and these unique moments that will be very difficult to repeat in the future, because even though it seems normal, I still value them and find something beyond that normality.”

Why Marc Marquez will have been happy to finish behind Alex Marquez at the Catalan Grand Prix
Even though he wants to win every race possible, Marc might be slightly relieved that he can now afford to win both races in Misano without claiming a seventh title in Valentino Rossi’s backyard.
Their rivalry is still fresh in the minds of his fanbase, and they were seen booing Marquez earlier in the season at Mugello.
Marquez is risking Luigi Dall’Igna’s big fear by winning so much, as his team is worried about declining in popularity.
However, with a new set of regulations approaching for 2027, that shouldn’t end up being an issue for too long before their rivals are able to catch back up.
