With eight Grand Prix wins and 11 Sprint race victories under his belt, there have already been a number of memorable moments for Marc Marquez in his first season with the Ducati Lenovo team.

He’s etched his name under a few records in the process. Marquez’s latest win at the Czech GP marked the first time in the constructor’s history that a rider has won five consecutive Grands Prix.

The return to championship-winning form has come after a number of years where the Spaniard has struggled with different injuries. Marquez has emulated Mick Doohan with his ability to ride through pain and come back even stronger.

Ducati engineers have labelled Marquez as a ‘genius’, describing the amount they have learnt from serving Marquez since his introduction to the team ahead of the 2025 season.

Finishing one-two with Alex Marquez is Marc Marquez’s favourite moment of the current MotoGP season

Speaking to TNT Sports, the elder Marquez brother was asked about his most memorable moment of the 2025 MotoGP season so far, to which the eight-time motorcycle world champion replied, “My favourite moment this season was in the first race in Thailand.

“It was my first victory with the Ducati factory team, and at the same time, it was the first time we finished first and second, me and Alex. That was something exceptional, now becomes normal. But that was exceptional, and it was the best weekend.”

As Marquez pointed out, the feat in Thailand was exceptional, but has been somewhat of a common occurrence throughout a season which has seen them finish in a one-two formation in 14 races, including Grands Prix and Sprint races.

Out of the 14 one-twos, Marc has been on the winning end of all but one occasion, with Alex’s win in the Silverstone Sprint race earlier in the season being one of the few occasions he’s had the upper hand on his older Marquez.

Marc alluded to the benefits of training with Alex, stating that the competition between them helps him to stay race fit to battle him on track.

How many other brothers have shared the track in MotoGP?

As well as being the first brothers to finish one-two in the history of MotoGP, the Marquez brothers also made history by becoming the first brothers to individually win a Grand Prix in the premier class.

The Aoki brothers, Nobuatsu and Takuma, were the first siblings to share a podium together, with their second and third-place finishes at the 1997 City of Imola Grand Prix keeping them alone in that respect until the Marquez brothers matched it at the 2024 German Grand Prix.

Pol and Aleix Espargaro also raced against each other in the premier class between 2014 and 2024. Both riders now take up a reserve role on the MotoGP grid with KTM and Honda, respectively.

One of the more recent brother pairings came with the addition of Luca Marini to the MotoGP grid in 2021. As the half-brother of MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, the siblings managed to get a single season of battling together before Rossi’s retirement at the end of the season.
