Jack Miller shares what Marc Marquez did that really got on his ‘nerves’ at the German Grand Prix

Jack Miller earned his third top 10 finish of the MotoGP season so far at the German Grand Prix with a measured ride to eighth.

It was an important result for the Pramac man, who had just gone three races without finishing higher than 14th place.

After teammate Miguel Oliveira retired, it’s another tick against Miller’s name in the fight for a seat in 2026.

He’s now up to 16th in the MotoGP standings, some seven positions ahead of Oliveira at the halfway mark in the season.

MotoGP fans said the same thing about Oliveira and believe that his career may be over after crashing at the Sachsenring.

Neil Hodgson shared the ‘vibe’ about Miller’s future in the paddock, and has suggested that he believes he will remain on the grid beyond 2025.

Jack Miller says finishing 25 seconds behind Marc Marquez got on his ‘nerves’ at the German Grand Prix

Yamaha may offer Miller a one-year deal before turning to the younger talent in Moto2, with Diogo Moreira tipped for a promotion soon.

Since returning from a serious shoulder injury, Oliveira hasn’t been able to match the form of his teammate, but he hasn’t had too much luck either.

His best result of the season is 13th, while Miller has just racked up a third top-eight finish of the campaign, edging him closer to the 50-point mark with 46.

Speaking to SPEEDWEEK after the race, he revealed how eventual winner Marc Marquez wound him up in Germany.

“My race pace didn’t drop completely, but I didn’t have many tires left when I saw the chequered flag,” he said. “At least I stayed in the race. But being 25 seconds behind Marc is really getting on my nerves.”

How did Jack Miller end up fighting to save his MotoGP career?

With Miller being what could be the last Aussie on the grid for a while, there’s going to be a lot of people hoping that he can get an extension this year.

His best years were with Ducati’s factory team in 2021 and 2022, but with just three victories between those two seasons, he didn’t quite deliver enough to retain his ride.

Moving to KTM for 2023 failed, and couldn’t have been much more frustrating for him. He claimed just one podium in 39 races with them.

And now he’s with a Pramac outfit who are adjusting to life as a Yamaha satellite team, ahead of the arrival of a new V4 bike later this year. There is some light at the end of the tunnel, especially if he gets a new contract.
