Jorge Martin pinpoints what he found so annoying on his return from injury with Aprilia

Jorge Martin is gearing up to return to MotoGP after a three-month absence from competitive action.

It has been even longer since he finished a race, which came when he clinched his first title back in November with Pramac. That’s some eight months ago by the time he returns.

But through all the pain and turmoil, Martin has not given up on his comeback and is now finally ready to start riding a motorcycle again.

That was displayed last week when he rode a modified Aprilia street bike in Barcelona, just to get the feel of being behind the handlebars again.

However, his messy contract situation is yet to be sorted. Aprilia fans are saying the same thing to Martin and are begging for him to stay with them into 2026.

And with Honda’s top management not ‘too happy’ with Martin, his options may only be dwindling with each race that passes by.

Jorge Martin found his ribs annoying upon his Aprilia return from injury at Barcelona

Martin could ‘immediately’ reverse his push for an Aprilia exit when he comes back, if he realises that their bike is in a better position than he first thought.

Teammate Marco Bezzecchi has won a race on it this year and just secured a double podium at the last race in Assen.

Aprilia made one ‘exorbitant’ demand to Martin and were asking for a big penalty for his release, which doesn’t appear likely.

After his return on a modified Aprilia street bike in Barcelona, the reigning MotoGP champion took to his YouTube channel to explain how he was feeling.

“First, I’ve done eight or nine laps, but now I have the feeling of having done quite a bit more and nothing,” he said. “Yes, it bothers me to ask for the back [to come into the pits], but I think it’s first.

“I have been going for months without going until everything falls into place. It is clear that with 12 broken ribs, it has to bother you, it is normal.”

When is Jorge Martin going to complete his official MotoGP return?

The upcoming German Grand Prix marks the halfway point of the MotoGP season, and it’s a very demanding racetrack to be heading to.

Fortunately, there’s one more race the following week at Brno before the summer break, which will offer Martin a chance to return.

That’s after the Sachsenring was deemed too risky and physically demanding for the Spaniard to return. Waiting an extra week was far safer.

No precaution goes too far after the miserable run of injuries Martin has been on in 2025. His fans are desperate to see him return to action at this stage and see what he can really do for Aprilia.
